|
|
I am going to the US for a week and I need the US maps for my NavMan iCN530, at the moment I have the European maps.
Does anybody have them which I can download or maybe swap, because I don't want to buy them for just 1 week in the US.
Regards

I very much doubt that
a) it's possible (maps are usually locked to a single device with a few exceptions)
or
b) it would be legal (the maps are copyright and are not usually open to swapping and "downloading")
If it's not legal then it's totally discouraged here. |

For certain devices (e.g. iCN320/330, iDN3000, F20 etc.) Navman sells maps that are locked to a card, not to a device. These cards work in any device of the correct type. Unfortunately, I don't think iCN530 supports this feature.

If maps are bought on the card, than it shouldn't be illegal to share a card with a friend, as long as you're not trying to copy it (so only the original is passed around and only one person is using it at the time) and no one is making a profit from this (so you're not renting it). As long as those conditions are met, it should be just like lending someone your paper maps -- or even your GPS device. |

Thanks Them.
I think the phrase "download or maybe swap" flagged a false positive here. Forgot that some brands lock them to cards not devices. |
