Presumably these oatcakes are something more exciting than the things you can buy in Sainsburys to put cheese on? |

they are freshly made on large griddles with a content of your choice, normally cheese, bacon egg sausage, etc. very nice, but one is enough s
originally brought back to the uk by the staffordshire regiment from india, that is why i gues they are only found in this area now |

The origin isn't really known but it seems a popular myth in the Staffs area that the idea (not the recipe) was brought back from India.
The general recipe isn't just confined to the Jug area. Cheshire, Lancashire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire also produce them in some form and I've found the same basic idea in Scotland, New Zealand, Japan, Russia, Germany, Netherlands, Canada and USA during travels. In none of these was there any hint that the source was Staffordshire |

The ones in Cheshire are just the same as the jug ones, only more expensive.
Well it is Cheshire and you have to pay Cheshire prices don't you know |
