Hi.
I have TTN3 and all of the informatin on the site on seems to cover up to navigator 2.
Do I need to install a POI Warner, like GPS Assist? What else should I know?
Thanks

Hi Pi,
I’m afraid that I only have TTNav2 at the moment (the TTNav3 upgrade has been ordered). However saying that, if it works for TTNav2 then it should work for TTNav3.
If you need a POI detector, which I’d recommend for speed cameras (the PocketGPS World camera database is pretty good), then I’d recommend either CheckPOInt 2.0.2 or GPSAssist.
CheckPOInt 2.0.2 is better than the 3.xx versions and can be downloaded from this website. CheckPOInt 2.0.2 is a basic but excellent POI Detector. Best of all it’s free! GPSAssist does far more than CheckPOInt, which is why it costs €27.00.
I’d go for the CheckPOInt option first, and when the next version of GPSAssist is released (it’s being developed at the moment) then you can make a decision.

I've got TTN3 working with CheckPOInt and the speed camera database. Both were downloaded from this website |

Thanks Guys,
Too be honest my biggest worry is the fact I have Pocket PC 2003.
Numerous program which worked on PPC 2002 won't work on it without a patch, and the POI Detectors only mention PPC2002 and TTN2.
I have installed some trial software on my HP5550 and even when I uninstall I still have the icons which I don't seem to be able to remove.
So I am not overly enthusiastic at installing stuff unless I know it will work.
Cheers
Pi :D |

Lingering icons is a common problem in all versions of Pocket PC. Simply go into Windows\Start Menu on your Pocket PC (either using the File Manager that's built in - in which case start from My Device, or using the Explore function in ActiveSync, in which case you need to go via My Pocket PC to see Windows) and delete any shortcuts there that relate to applications you've removed.
CheckPOInt 2.0.2 is fine on Pocket PC 2003 / TomTom Navigator 2 or 3. I think CheckPOInt 3 should be similar. GPSAssist 1 is potentially problematic, but version 2 is in development and should soon be with us.
