Have just looked at the TT help on the subject on This Page, and from what you said:
Quote: | and placed the folder in the root directory of the Tomtom |
TT says:
Quote: | Copy the unzipped folder home_images to the root directory of your TomTom device. |
Did you copy a Folder called home_images, and the files it contains, to the Root of the Drive? _________________ Richard

Thanks Richard yes i did, I unzipped it and trnsferred the folder with the files still in it to the root of the tomtom, the folder home_images is showing there with all the files inside.
Do you think it's possible that the folder should be empty the files in it cut and pasted direct to the root directory ?

I reasoned that it means the Folder that the UnZip programme creates and has placed the files in.
Would have read better if it had said 'Copy the new Folder, 'home_images', to the Root of the Device. _________________ Richard

I am having the same trouble with a Tomton One 1st edition, rev 5.410.
I've tried this on my Mac and XP laptop and its just the same. the computer sees the device and allows me to put the home_images folder in the root directory but Tomtom home still doesn't see the device. I want to update the software but can't, is there a manual way?
There is some confusion with the downloaded zip file it create a home images folder not a home_images as described but I tried calling the folder both names and still no joy. |

I had trouble with HOME on Vista too a while back, errors popping up all over the place. Even TomTom couldn't work out what was going on. I reverted back to XP after a while, due to a slow Vista setup and all is well. |

Chris, if you go to Oldboys web site (click the WWW button in the post directly above yours) you will be able to download an earlier version of v6 software for your device, within the download is a readme file containing the instructions for a manual upgrade.
Once the new files are loaded to the device TomTom will see the device and look for any newer updates that might be available. As always back up the device to the PC BEFORE doing any of the above - Mike |

Just make sure you have an Explorer Backup before using it.
There's a Text File on how to load it in the Zip File. _________________ Richard

Its all sorted now I found a place to download Tomtom Home Version 1.3.2.
And then upgraded from there, but thanks anyway once a the latest version on software on the Device you can then upgrade Tomtom Home too.
I found the old version at the filefactory. http://software.filefactory.com/Mac/TomTom_HOME_1-3-200.html
But thanks for the other recommendations. |
