I just renamed my speedcamera files to represent the text I wanted spoken. Nice and easy.
For example, renamed:
pocketgps_uk_Gatso_20.ov2
to
Speed_Camera_Gatso_20.ov2
So tomtom says, "Speed Camera Gatso Twenty". |

Follow the instructions (at the bottom of THIS PAGE) carefully....
You will NOT see the voice files in the list with this method.
Quote: |
If you have installed them correctly you will be asked to choose a sound but will not be offered any options, this is normal. You will be asked 'Is this the sound you want?'. You should answer Yes on this screen. If you do, you will then see the warning distance screen and can proceed as normal.
If you mistakenly answer No then you may get a message saying No Photographs and the unit will freeze. If you have mistakenly done this, simply reset the device and start again, this time answering Yes when prompted.

If you still can't get it to work , use the alternative method I outline HERE

Cheers Andy,
The bit I couldn't get my head round was the fact that you didn't have to select the specific voice. Once I sussed that all you had to do was click "yes" when asked if I wanted to use the voice selected I was sorted.
Thanks,
Paul |

It's confusing for a lot of people....
The problem is that it is an undocumented feature that TomTom never got round to implementing properly in the menus.
Unfortunately all the Pocket GPS World alerts got set up using this method before TomTom came up with the second technique I mentioned, which is actually much more logical and easy to follow. |

I'm just installing the PGPSW speedzoned database and the Andy speedzoned voices. The Gatso and Mobile alert have been set up as per the instructions (920T). However when trying to set up the specs and redlights, I can't get past the set up for the distance.
I've checked the map folder and the .ogg files are there, and are identical to the bmp and ov2 files.
I'm on App 7.221, with map version v710.1576
Any ideas what is going wrong? _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |

What happens when you get stuck? Can you give the exact sequence of button taps you are doin - I assume you are selecting "sound effect" on the first screen?
If all else fails, there's always the alternative method, I've described it HERE |

Hi Andy,
Very weird,
Tried again this morning, and everything worked. Bit bizarre, but at least I'm sorted now. _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |
