Where did you get the ogg files from? if they are from the PocketGPSWorld ogg file download page they don't need re-naming.

Have you re-configured all the camera POI warnings within the TomTom application, or possibly just re-configured the warnings it has offered you for selection.

There is a limit of 100 custom POI files on the device using version 6 software, 39 if using version 5 - how many other custom POI files are installed to the map folder, count up the files that end with the extension ov2 - Mike

Sorry I don't quite understand what you mean by re-configured. All the distances etc I have gone through & didn't need to change any of them but when I get to mobile variable & then all the pmobiles & specs it asks me to choose a warning sound.
All I have done is loaded the speed zone files as normal by copy & pasteing the files & overwriting whats already there, & then loaded on the liz speedzoned from this site, I also took all the ogg files off & loaded on the chimespeedzoned & it still did the same ?
I read that by upgrading to the new version 6 it would wipe off the old data.chk so I don't think there would be a conflict there.
I have version 6 & have 31ov2's.

The secret of solving problems like this is always to be able to actually SEE what files are where...
Connect up your TomTom to your PC so that the TT is seen as a new drive. Close Home if it tries to run. Open up Windows Explorer and view the TomTom "drive".
Look inside the map folder (called "Western Europe" or "UK and IE plus major roads of WE" or something similar) and you should see all the camera POI files.
Just check to see that all the .oggs are present and have names that exactly match their associated ov2 files.

(If you can't see the three letter extensions after the dot, you need to alter your preferences in Windows Explorer (or My Computer) TOOLS / FOLDER OPTIONS / VIEW Tab /
In the "Advanced settings" section:-
TICK "Show hidden files and folders" and
UN-TICK "Hide extensions for known file types")

Here's the complete list you should have:

pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ogg

(You may also have pocketgps_uk_mobile_var.bmp and
pocketgps_uk_mobile_var.ov2 but they are empty files and so are not needed)

pocketgps_uk_redlight.bmp
pocketgps_uk_redlight.ogg
pocketgps_uk_redlight.ov2

pocketgps_uk_specs_20.ogg

pocketgps_uk_specs_tba.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_tba.ov2

pocketgps_uk_temp.bmp
pocketgps_uk_temp.ogg
pocketgps_uk_temp.ov2

(You may also have the additional "pMobile" unverified files:

pocketgps_uk_pmobile_20.bmp
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_20.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_30.bmp
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_40.bmp
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_40.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_50.bmp
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_50.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_60.bmp
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_60.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_70.bmp
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_70.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_tba.bmp
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_tba.ov2

There are some ready made oggs to go with those too, but as a separate download from the ogg files collection page).

If you have all of those and you have gone through the "warn when near" set-up for EVERY ONE again, it should all work fine. If the system recognises the sound file as correct, it will automatically skip the page in the set-up where it asks you to choose a sound effect.

Have a check and report back.

EDIT: The above list is now OUT OF DATE. See here for a more recent one:

For a start where are the other files that Andy has listed in an earlier post? - you seem to be missing the Mobiles and the Gatso files (the PMobiles are the provisional ones that are still to be verified). - your screen shot only shows 17 ov2 files and each one has a coresponding ogg file

If the screen shot is all you have on the device then I am not surprised it doesn't work as the files are missing, download the speed zoned ov2 file set again and re-install it.

By re-configuring your warnings I mean that after installation of the POI files AND the ogg files to the map folder you need to do the following:

1/ Power up the device
2/ Go to Change Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn When Near POI
3/ Select the first POI file entitled "pocketgps_XXXXXXXX" (the XXXXX bit can mean anything)
4/ Answer NO to the "Remove POI Warning" prompt.
5/ Set a distance you are happy with
6/ Set the Warn only if POI on Route check box according to preference
7/ repeat from step 2 and make sure each POI category is re-selected for the warnings. - Mike

The screen shot is only part of the tomtom set up, the rest are there but wasn't on the screen to take the screen shot.
(New screen shot of all tomtom files )

I have reloaded all the speedzone, ogg files again & reconfigured the same as you have stated & will give it another go in the morning.
Thanks
Martin

PostPosted: Tue Oct 02, 2007 9:44 pm    Post subject: Spurious POI warning sounds. Reply with quote

I hope someone can help me with this problem. I have downloaded and installed the Pocket GPS speed camera database along with the voice alerts and these work very well. However, I seem to be getting warning sounds when there are no POIs showing on the screen. These are the bleeps and bongs that originally came with the TomTom system.

I originally installed the TomTom speed camera database but found this to be out of date. So I subscribed to the Pocket GPS database and found much better.

Any help will be most welcome.

Have a read of #13 on the FAQ page which can be found Here - you are most probably getting warnings from the TomTom database in addition to the one you can trust Wink - Mike

This is a great guide, Thanks a lot!

But I am after the following sounds:

PocketGPSWorld 'Computer Voice'
pocketgps_uk_gatso_80.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_90.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_100.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_110.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_80.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_90.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_100.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_110.ogg

I don't have text to speech on my TT one and I am so used to the PGPSW computer voice.... can anyone show me where to get the above ogg sounds?

Thanks a lot!

There are various Warning Voices on the OGG Voices Page.

Thanks OldBoy,

But the PGPSW "computer voice" download doesn't contain the 80,90,100 and 110 speed warnings.... Which is what I am after Crying or Very sad

Try the Euro Camera Alerts at the bottom of the list. Smile
