I'd just assumed that the shipped date was 2 June 2008, but it's probably 6 February.

I'll need to wait for the DVD to arrive anyways...

I have a Nuvi 360 and a Streetpillot 2610 which I bought last year when they were being sold off cheap.

For my Nuvi it will cost me but I can have it free for my Streetpilot Smile

Welcome

According to Garmin:

* Increased coverage for Norway, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia, now at full country coverage
* Increased address range coverage
* Coverage for almost 8 million Km of roads
* More than 1.5 millions POIs

There probably isn't that much changed as far as the UK coverage is concerned. You can view the maps online on Garmin's website using their map viewer. If you travel in Eastern Europe a lot then it may well be essential!

I wouldn't bother upgrading unless there is some confirmation that it fixes the problems with Garmin units sending us down the country lanes....

Do they still do that thing where you can unlock your maps for two GPS units? If so, get the free upgrade for the SP and then get the Nuvi unlocked as a second GPS unit. Cool

I replaced my old i3 with a Nuvi 300 last year, and although I had all of Europe on the i3, the Nuvi only came with GB and Eire.

The update email suggests that for £60 (give or take), I'll get all of Europe. Is that right? Bearing in mind I'm planning a euro-road-trip this year, if it is correct, that's pretty good value for money!

You always could you may just need to put the extra maps on an SD card but the Nuvi will use it.

Does the update disc automatically update maps for the whole of europe or does it just update the uk and let you decide if you want to update other regions. I have a NUvi 660 which can with europe maps pre-installed.

With the 660 it will upgrade ALL areas at the same time - that is it replaces the single map file with the new map file.

Allow around 2 hours for the complete upgrade (this is what it took on mine) and do take a backup before you start. If your PC is connected to the internet then the unlock will be done automatically and registered with GARMIN.

So they want to gouge me for nearly eighty quid to update the maps on a less than one year old unit when you can buy a new nuvi 250 with European maps from Amazon for £110.

I don't think so - time to try out someone else. Evil or Very Mad

I got the update DVD disc through the post this today.

Mine has a big green sticky label on the back with an 8 digit code.

All I did was registered my details on the Garmin.com site and they sent a City Navigator Europe NT 2008 disc to me.

My Nuvi 310 is only UK and Ireland, this new DVD that came today is the whole of Europe, i'm hoping that it will install the lot for me as that will be a bonus.

I'm clearing my SD card ready to try in a minute.

Fingers crossed.

No one is forcing you to buy the maps. You might do just as well to upgrade every other year instead. Oh and don't expect anyone elses maps to be that much cheaper. The maps are very expensive to start with hence the high price.

surreypete - When did you buy your 310?
