Have just recieved an e-mail from Garmin to say that the 2008 map is now available. Followed the link to order an update, which takes you to a page that asks you to input a serial number to check for updates. Entered the serial number of my 360 and it came back to say that no updates were found!

So if no updates are available, why send me an e-mail saying they are!?

The same happened with my i3 but eventually it updated the page.

On this page it states the 360 is compatible. See the Product Compatibility drop down on the right.

If you have registered the unit with Garmin, which it sounds like you have, i would log in to My Garmin and check from there.

Have just tried checking for an update via my Garmin account. According to the registration details, it thinks my unit is using North America maps, which is why it keeps telling me there are no updates available.

Don't know how that happened, but it's not very helpful.

It could be that you have a unit with a USA registered ID!!
I had the same problem as I bought it on eBay from USA.

No, this was bought from a shop in the UK, with European maps loaded. Besides, if Garmin thought it was a North America unit, why would they send me notification that the 2008 Europe map was now available.

They sent out the Update notice to garmin Account holders/registered users.[I had three - three units]

Only the ID and the pre-loaded basemap indicate the USA origin.

Is your basemap the 'Atlantic'?

There are many places in the UK selling Canadian and US units with pre-loaded UK maps [sometimes metroguide] or additional SD cards.

That's what I thought but Garmin UK want to charge me £59.99 + VAT

Think I'll try and give them a call tomorrow.

As stated on the original thread I have now received 2 e-mails one from the us stating a price the second from the UK with no price quoted but when I hit the link and get the price it's £59.99 + vat.

I've received the e-mail stating the $75 price. As I have 2 units (an i3 and a nuvi 350) I have received 2 e-mails. Both mention the $75 price. When going on line if I check for updates under the Nuvi 350 I get the £59.99 price (if I change my locale to the US it becomes $129.99, or if I change to Ire €79.99).

If I check with the i3 I get the following:

MapSource Unlock - Select MapSource

City Navigator Europe NT 2008 Deluxe Unlock 2008 12/01/2007 02/06/2008

Unlock codes for Update CDs are not available prior to the corresponding ship date (shown above).

Weird!

Keep going. It's now well past the ship date of 1 December 2007 so you can buy the unlock code.

Now, getting a DVD - there's a challenge....
