Mmm.....I can't say I've seen any quality reviews of the Active 10....except mine!!! ....they're all very vague for something that costs £300 and is supposed to be what the market has been waiting for.
As for the listed cons...'OS maps purchased separately' I'd rather have that than 'You are forced in to paying for a load of expensive OS maps you might not need'.
There's a video review on You Tube from 'one of the most influential voices in gear testing for over a decade'....you could never tell he has such expertise from either the video or his Trail magazine review though. _________________ I like mapping, I like mapping, I like mapping and I like to map! |

That doesn't seem like a real review to me! |

No mention of many of the things that matter; battery life, sensitivity, acquisition time, computer interfacing. Not much of a review! |

We're still awaiting our review unit, we decided to await one with the latest software and bug fixes.
Rest assured our review WILL cover all the important aspects, we don't do re-hashes of PR material. _________________ Darren Griffin

Thanks for the update Darren.
I had been wondering what had happened to your review. Please let Satmap know that we are all waiting with baited breath and probably zipped up wallets for the updates and many of the other things they promised when some of us bought our Active 10s. _________________ LostMike

They've been very open with me, they realise the issues and are working hard to cure them with the update.
They offered one as is but it made sense to wait and comment on one that is running the latest update. I know they have had some issues with this update but I'm certain they're working hard to iron out the bugs and get it ready for release.
Hopefully it will resolve the known issues to date. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Fair point re: Outdoor Magic review....perhaps they just got lucky with their unit and had their expectations already set re: lack of on-line planner etc. by Satmap.
Anyway, it's about time we all received the software update, which I believe is now 1.05 (they skipped 1.04).
Is anyone going to the Outdoor Show? They do have a stand pencilled in and we should perhaps take the opportunity to give them some collective feedback.....!

There are a few of us intending to go to the Outdoors show, and being GPS related their stand will be payed a visit without a doubt, the stand looks like it is in the same place as last year for those that attended - Mike |

The real reviews are on here, by the end users, the 'sliding box' review on YouTube isn't a GPS review, it's a review on packaging. |

How about reviewing my unit? Tell me it was worth the £500+ outlay. I need some serious convincing. |
