Is there a GPS based system which will constantly show the road speed limit, even if there is no speed camera? I know they all show the speed you are moving, but what about the limit for the road you are on?
Thanks |

The latest maps from TomTom show road limits from the map itself. Unfortunately, it's nowhere near 100% and even when it's there, it's often incorrect to the point of being unusable. Not sure about Garmin etc.
EDIT - typing while Lost_Property submitted. Looks like it's being made possible but not reliable on any systems as yet. _________________ Gerry

Exactly.
E.G. A dual carriageway near where I live used to be 30mph, it was upped to 40. I kept getting a reminder, at 40, I was speeding, even though I had set it 10% above speed limit.
Another which used to be National speed limit was reduced to 50 and now down to 40. I got no warning when exceeding 40.
There were other places around the country where it was just plain wrong so I gave up. (especially new'ish 20mph zones). |

Looks like its back to the old 'grit your teeth and hope' on the country roads then. Thanks |

Actually, knowing the speed limit on any stretch of road is very simple.
If there are street lights it is 30mph unless there are repeater signs saying otherwise.
If there are no street lights it is national limit unless there are repeater signs saying otherwise.
So if you see a street light slow to 30mph until you see a repeater sign or no more street lights.
There's no maximum distance between street lights involves as many believe. |

Just for info, the new Garmin maps feature a speed limit icon for most major roads. |
