How to rename (edit name) of POI Category categories

By far the easiest way is to browse to the map folder on your device when it is connected to your PC.

The POIs consist of two files, the POI data is in the form POI_NAME.ov2 and the matching Icon is POI_NAME.bmp.

So all you need to do is rename both files with matching names leaving the file extensions intact i.e. My_New_POI_Name.ov2 and My_New_POI_Name.bmp .

Try to avoid spaces, if needed use an underscrore _ instead.
