I'm not sure if those who are already life members get notified but new lifers certainly do get an email informing them as you should have done? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I got a polite message from MaFt, but then DennisN found out and he now won't let me forget it! _________________ Dom

an automatic email should be sent out informing you that the subscription has been extended - the same way as when you pay for a subscription.

OK I know I am going to get shot at for this and I have my tin hat ready.
To submit a new camera you must be a subscribing member but I am sure some people stumbling on this site may well know of a new camera but will net send it as they have to subscribe. Could be an idea to let people post a new camera and try to qualify for a free membership, after all they may just post several before they succeed or not.
OK started running so you may now open fire but please keep it polite no need to be nasty or rude. |

I got mine from the start of the charging, because I had submitted cameras before the charge was introduced - I have to hope the ones I submitted were accurate at least!
I continued submitting (accurately?) and I believe that's why I was invited to become a Verifier. (The appointment to Moderator status was quite simply down to my charm and pulchritude to allcomers - except mostdom, who deserves nothing more than regular challenges to find useful Smileycons especially as he lied about having given his spare PGPSW sticker away) _________________ Dennis

Why, have you not verified them |

I haven't the faintest idea - I can't remember that far back (what I submitted pre-charges). I can only vaguely remember my most recent submissions (Specs on M4 and M25). And I have a paper pile about six inches thick of all the verifications I've done! Having said which, It'd be sad if I came across an unverified camera and rejected it as rubbish, only to be told it was one I submitted back in my pre-Senile-Dementia days! (Only joking - we don't have any unverified ones from that long ago). _________________ Dennis

Not really lied but misrepresented I think.
I would have got mine same as Dennis but at the time i was not a forum member and only used the site for the downloads, But as the usefulness of the product far outweighs the cost, I chose not to request it when I found out about the original offer. If I hadn't had to offically join the forum I would never have got involved in these posts. I think many people have been suprised at the sense of community here once they have taken the plunge.
Allen
I think a single payment to join is acceptable, to then be eligable to gain a lifes subscription, as you can get sooo much more once you're here. If non members were able to get a life subscription without ever having to officially join beforehand you may well lose a few of the repeat submitions, and continued support. You may also reopen the issue of pirated copies appearing on ebay, perish the thought. _________________ Dom

So far, mostdom, your poll is showing that of the 241867 registered users, only 23 (0.0095%) have voted
Where is everybody?? Even the last general elections attracted 61.4% turnout.
All those people who pay to vote on reality TV programmes, surely this FREE poll should attract more voters _________________ Andy

Earley days yet, as I put the poll up for 60 days. I can only assume that a few subscribers will need to log on in that time. One can only hope they spot thi thread! _________________ Dom

What happens to the poll thread after the 60 days? Does it just sit here, or does it get wiped off the forum completely? Reason I ask is I fancied incorporating a link to it in my famous "Why haven't I got my free subscription?" pre-written thingy of links. _________________ Dennis

I think the results will still show, but people will no longer be able to vote after 60 days.
If you look back at some older polls, they still display the results...although I've already voted in the ones I looked at _________________ Andy

I never come here normally, it was only that Dennis pointed me here, otherwise I'd have missed it.
As the only way to get one is by submitting speed cams (or is it?) would you get a better cross-section in the speed cam database forum? |

Trouble with putting it in with the speed cams forum is it's a bit far off the wall. _________________ Dennis

Don't think so. Many, many years ago, when DennisN were nobbut a lad, and beginning his Northern training to be aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrd, I downloaded the then free database. By pigeon post.
I thought it was a b****y good deal, and as there was then a facility to bung the young paupers of PGPSW a bob or two, that's what I did.
Then the database became chargeable - except for those, IIRC, who'd done the decent thing and kept starvation from the PGPSW door, who were rewarded with Lifetime Membership.
Best investment I ever made .
