The One Third Edition can even display and use text documents with the correct command line in the menu should you need this - Mike |
Followed your instructions to the letter - new file named TomTom.mnu placed in a new folder called SdkRegistry in the root directory. Text in file as per the text in your review plus the extra line at the bottom. Then shut down and re-started, but no change to the menus.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

The text I use is as follows (it is a mess but work as far as a menu is concerned but it does work):
MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_MAIN|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE1|Main menu 1 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_NAVIGATE_TO|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_FIND_ALTERNATIVES|
MENUITEM|TASK_MAINTAIN_POI|
MENUITEM|TASK_ADD_FAVORITE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE2|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE2|Main menu 2 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PLAN_ATOB|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_MAP|
MENUITEM|TASK_DELETE_ROUTE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_TRAFFIC|
MENUITEM|TASK_ITINERARY|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE3|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE3|Main menu 3 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_DOC_BROWSER|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_TIPS|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE1|
Make sure your SdkRegistry folder is correctly named and the file TomTom.mnu must only have a single file extension (the .mnu part).
Try a copy/ paste wih the above text into your menu file use it to replace whatever you have in there currently, and see if that works, if not let me know and I will send you the file that I know works - Mike |

Deffinately tomtom one version 3 (W europe). Only had it a couple of weeks and the box is sitting here...
No sd card, internal 1gb memory |
Sorry to bang on about this, but for future reference, a "V3" is NOT the same as a "3rd Edition"
It gets complicated, but basically a "v3" is one of the two versions of the "New Edition" (which isn't the new one any more so TT renamed it the "2nd Edition"!)
What does your box say? From your description you have a 3rd Ed. |

Says 3rd edition on the bottom of the machine. On the box it says 3rd edition and 3rd version (although I think the latter is a 3rd edition in another language...) |

Hehehe, I didn't even /get/ a box with mine. This one came in a transparent plastic package. On the other hand, the US version has "1" GB storage (978.1 MB, not 1,024MB), instead of 512 MB. |

In the UK there are two versions: a "regional one with UK mapping and 512MB memory, and a "europe" version with 1GB memory. |

Mine is the W Europe 1BG version. Have just used it in Spain and found it a bit deficient when it came to small roads - compared to Navigon Navigator. I suppose something's got to go to get the whole of W Europe on 1GB. Wondered if anyone knew whether the UK mapping on the W Europe version is the same as the UK only version or if that has been reduced down too? |

You're the third person to ask that in the last couple of days!
To all intents and purposes they are the same. |

Thanks! |

Welcome to the forum, assuming your device works in the same way as all the others:
Change Preferences/ show tips press it so it puts a red cross through the icon, if you cannot see the show tips/ hide tips icon then you will need to go to Change Preferences/ Show ALL menu options now you should be able to see the show tips/ hide tips - Mike |

Thanks Mike, but I don't have a Show All under change preferences. |

Have you tried the custom menu on the device as outlined near the top of page two of this thread? - Mike |
