Hi
If you go into menu - Change preferences - then page 7 it should show an icon for -show version - click on that and it will show you _________________ TOMTOM XL IQ routes. UK & ROF I App 9.510.1234792.2 Map UK &RI V945.6174 |

Maybe not... I think it depends on software version and model. That menu item is no longer on my Go 720.
The other way to get the info is to tap the signal strength bars and then tap the small box on the next page where it shows the software version. That should give you a whole page of info.
To find the latest map version look on the TT website HERE (It's v715 at the moment)
Edit: sorry for doubting you, washman - #I've just seen in your sig that you've got an XL with latest software. I'll shut up! |

Me back again... (I can't shut up for long!)
v7.162 is the SOFTWARE version, you need to look on that next page to find the map version.
Software updates are always free (you've already got the most up to date at the moment), but maps always have to be paid for UNLESS you have got a "Latest Map Guarantee" with your unit. You get a free map if a newer one is released within 30 days of purchase. v715 are the latest ones.
You need to use TomTom's utility program "Home" to update the machine (both for software and maps).
To use the latest map guarantee, go to the "Tools" menu.
Sometimes this fails to recognise you are owed a new map though. If you feel you are due one, ring them up and they will ask you to send them proof of purchase. |

(It's quite normal for it to take several hours to download a new map by the way...Nobody is quite sure why!) |
