|
|
I have just got Navman 3450 sleeve, software and Memory Map 2004 for Xmas.
As I’m new to the gps world I wanted to try the MM software with the 3450 sleeve.
After installing the software on both my PC and my ipaq3850 using the ipaq cradle via the usb port, I set about seeing if I could get the gps working.
Using the Navman_driver_3_1_1.exe driver from the cd and with the above setup the following message come up on the ipaq optscanbus failed.
The questions I have:
To enable the gps driver to install do I need to use the COM port instead of the usb port, if so as I have the dual connection ipaq cradle can I just plug in the 9pin d type connector to the COM port?
At any point during the gps driver installation do I need to connect the gps sleeve to my ipaq?
I only have the ipaq cradle that was supplied with the ipaq, can I do all the map transfers and gps set up with this or will I have to buy a cable so that the gps sleeve can be set up with the ipaq connected, will the cable have to be a 9pin dtype or usb type?
Any information would be appreciated
Thanks

When installing I would not have the sleeve connected. Also it doesn't matter whether you are connected to the PC via the serial lead or USB. Either should work.
Basically the optscanbus error can be a number of things. Either the driver hasn't installed correctly, and going into REMOVE PROGRAMS on the iPAQ and removing the program, soft resetting and re-installing the driver can help. Also if the sleeve has been on since you soft reset, this could be the problem as it will be opening up one of the DLL's and the install cannot overwrite so you will get a mixture of installed files causing this error.
Another thing that can also cause this is if your asset tag and serial number are blank in the Control Panel on the Pocket PC. If this is the case, you need to get your iPAQ fixed by HP as it's a bug on the Pocket PC. This can sometimes happen on upgrading to WM2003 if you have upgraded the Operating System. |

Hi Dave,
I'm having the same problem with the "OptScanBus failed" message. I have an HP IPAQ 5555 and am trying to load this same driver to enable me to use my NAVMAN 3450 sleeve with COPILOT POCKET PC4 software. I tried uninstalling the CAB file, performed a soft reset, then recopied the file, but still got the same message re: OptScanBus when I tried to install it. I checked my control panel and the Asset and Serial Number Tags are there. Could the problem be that the HP 5550 has an X-scale processor and the CAB file is (I believe) a Strong Arm file? Any other ideas? Thanks!

Is it a Navman 3450 sleeve you have or the CoPilot sleeve ? If it's the CoPilot sleeve you will need a slightly different driver from ALK. |

Just checking, is it really 3_1_1 or 3_1_6, which is the latest driver? _________________ Tim |

Good question, Tim. I am trying to use the 3-1-1. Is there a 3-1-6 driver?

The 3_1_6 driver is apparently only for the IPAQ 5400. Mine is the 5500.

I also have a 5500 (5555) and I can confirm that the 3.1.6 driver does work with that and my Navman sleeve. It has to be worth a try. _________________ Tim |

Thank you, Tim. I will try that and let you know if this solves the problem.

I have the same problem. I have an iPAQ 3870 with the Navman GPS 3450. I did the "Navman iPAQ GPS Reciever ROM Upgrade 1" and the "Navman Update Program" and those seemed to install without any problems, but when I went to install "GPS viewing Applications for iPAQ" I got an error message that says, "OptScanBus Failed!" What does that error message mean and what is the "GPS viewing Applications for iPAQ" software for? Thank you for your time and help. |
