What info are you after? They're SPECS cameras and IIRC they are there to enforce the speed limits whilst long term road-works are in place. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Cheers you put me on the right tracks and i found this on the Highways Agency site:
"The main construction work for the widening will commence on 23 February".
"It is anticipated that the scheme will take 15 months to construct, with work being completed by May 2009".
No advance warning by means of any signs - so 15 months of bloody chaos i suspect. |

Not yet there aren't, hence why the cameras are not in force, indeed they only got affixed to the poles in the last couple of days. _________________ Darren Griffin |

This is exactly what happened between J11 & J12 and also around Emsworth on A27 - cameras first and then roadworks followed in their wake.
However, what I'm not sure about is whether these cameras will be removed after the roadworks or if they're there to stay.
There was an article in the local press a couple of years ago about 'new' technology being used along the M27 and there was a wave of roadworks to 'upgrade communications', so I'm waiting to see what happens there. However, with these roadworks scheduled to take the best part of 18 months, it's going to feel like they're permanent anyway. _________________ Andy

Indeed, even with an 18 mth schedule of works they look like they were installed with every intention of them staying.
The thing is, at that location you've not much hope of going faster than 70 most days and in the busy periods 20 would be an achievement! _________________ Darren Griffin |

The stretch of the A27 around Emsworth with SPECS and roadworks is an accident blackspot, so this might well be the case.
In addition to new matrix signs, I'm not sure exactly what the 'communications upgrade' entailed but I doubt there are sufficient gantries to facilitate average speed limits _________________ Andy
