You don't say which software you have, or which Map.
The Full Postcode Function saw the light of day with V5.xxx Software and V5xx Maps. It actually came with the Maps, although we now know that it is not Map Version specific.
I'm assuming that you have never updated your Classic.
I hope you've Backed it up though. _________________ Richard

So, first you need to update your software...
You're a long way behind, so I believe you need to do it in stages (you can't just leap to the latest v7). Probably the safest method for you is to use TomTom's 'Home' utility to do the updates.
Home is on v2.2 now and is available from http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=17
Try the version on the left first, but I had heard a few people having problems getting Home 2 to "recognise" a very old model. If you have that problem, try the right hand version that says it is for Rider and Navigator 6.
Once you've got to at least v6 software, come back and we'll see if we can find the postcode files for you. As Oldboy says, the files did come with the maps, but TT has provided a download site for them recently. |

Have you downloaded the latest tomtom home software to your computer??
Have you ever logged into tomtom home before you may have to set an account up
Also try another usb
I know it has been mentioned in an earlier post but don't forget to do a back up if you look on the forum it will tell you how to do it |

Did you read the bit in my post about Home 2 having problems recognising very old hardware/software combinations and where to get a copy of Home v1.6? |

Don't worry...
As I said above, the first thing you needed to do was get updated to the latest software.
NOW you need to go get the postcode files.
TomTom have been a bit awkward about where they post them. The best version to go for is at this link
GB and Netherlands Postcodes (GB v701 NL v704)
(You may need to be logged in to your registered account on the TomTom website for the above link to work - If it doesn't, come back for more instructions)
Download the zip archive to somewhere on your PC, then when it has finished downloading the rather cutely named "zip.zip", right click on it and select "Extract all".
It should extract to produce a folder called "zip" with four files inside.
Using Windows Explorer, you can copy and paste that folder onto the TomTom drive, replacing any existing folder called zip that may already be there.
7-digit postcodes should now work. |

I can confirm that latest v7.whatever software, v715 maps and postcode search work fine on an original GO with a 2GB SD card. |

OK gp, there's a few things we can do...
The postcode files are too big to email, but we can try three things.
1. sort it out so you can get those ones
2. Find someone with ~12MB storage on some webspace who can host them.
3. Give you a link to another download from TomTom (not the latest version, unfortunately).
Lets try number one first.
Do you have an account with TomTom?
If so, fire up Home (v2) and log in. Your email address should appear in top right.
Now try that download link again. I just tried it, and it's still working for me. |

Anyone up for number 2?
I've got a tiny bit of webspce, but can only access it from my home connection, so I can't do anything until I get home tonight. |
