I've brought a remote for my tomtom 720 , I managed to get a connection after a little trouble and it worked ok. After a few days the remote will not communicate now and I can't get a new connection to work. I've tried taking out the batteries and starting again but it will not connect. Any ideas ?

Are you giving it the chance? Press the centre button and it doesn't connect for quite a few seconds, but small blue light on remote flashes, then top right of TT displays "A remote control is connected", THEN it will (mine does) work. It will also switch itself off after a period out of use and also whenever you switch off the TT.

Have you by any chance disabled Bluetooth on the 720?

Yes, I've given it a few minutes, and the bluetooth is enabled. I also have my mobile paired to the 720. Could this cause a problem?

Sorry, I can't understand it. Does the blue light come on?

I have my phone paired with mine too. The GO connects automatically to the phone when I switch the GO on.

Maybe you'll just have to take it back to the shop. This is the first time I've heard of a faulty remote (and if your phone is working with it, it doesn't look like the GO Bluetooth being faulty).

For lack of any information at all from TomTom, I judge that flashing is when it is trying to connect, steady is when it is connected (and idle, maybe?).

Have you any mates with a 520/720/920 which you could run a test with, or go back to the shop to test it with one of theirs? Come to think of it, the shop is probably the best option - (in theory) they'll have more remotes and GOs to test both your remote and your GO.

Have you, incidentally, tried resetting the 720 (reset button)?
