Are the Americans screwing with the data as a test?
I recently found a website that announces when the UK/US military are testing jamming of the signals in specific locations, but I know the yanks can actually mess with the accuracy of the downloaded data too. |

Seriously......you know that the whole GPS industry has Bill Clinton to thank for their existence. It was during his presidency that GPS signals were allowed to become more accurate than about 100 yards (or something like that). |

Did you know the Europeans have been trying to produce our own GPS satellite network (Galileo), so we don't have to be reliant on the Americans.
Strangely enough, the yanks are absolutely livid, and have done their best to scupper the whole project!
(I think we've got ONE satellite up there so far!) |

Thank goodness! Kate has found her way home today without any help from me. It must have been a glitch with the satellite signals - unless you know differently. |

Thank you all, I thought it was just me!!!! My car was showing me in 2 streets to the left!.
This also happened on Monday night around the same time. ( In the Sutton surrey area)
I SUSPECT A BROKEN GPS FROM TOMTOM not our units! |

I doubt whether it is either of the above, if it was our units they would always be wrong and the GPSquickfix only tells the TomTom where to look in the sky for the satellites. The data fed from the satellites determines our position on the map, I think something must interfere with the signal occasionally.
You haven't seen any UFOs around have you? |

BBC states that they (usa) are trying to shot it down! But they cant as it would damage the environment. |

Perhaps they shot the wrong satellite down, wouldn't be a first for them shooting at the wrong things!!! |

As the sattelites transmit a time signal, maybe they need a new battery. |

After downloading the new QuickGPSfix on Friday evening (23rd of Feb), my 910 went weird on the way back from Bristol
Everything was going fine until around 7:30pm when it either showed my location as a couple of roads to the left, or approximately 100 yards or so behind my actual location
This was very helful as I didn't have a clue about the area
Anyway after muddling my way through the city I managed to get to the M4.
After and hour or so my 910 corrected itself and displayed my correct location
When I arrived home I immediately plugged the 910 into my PC and ran TomTom Home to check for any updates.
To my surprise there was a new version of the QuickGPSfix available
2 QuickGPSfix releases in 24 hours, makes you wonder if there was a mistake in the previous release.
As I had never experienced any problems with my 910 before using the QuickGPSfix updates, I uninstalled it from my 910.
As I use an external antenna (due to my Asthermic windscreen), I don’t need to use the QuickGPSfix anyway (it only takes a few second to get a good GPS lock).
It does make you wonder about the QuickGPSfix, however TomTom Home did download and upgrade my GPS firmware not to long ago.
Could this have caused the problem |

I have just had a good look on the Tomtom Navigator Forum to see if any of the Navigator users have had the same problem. I never found any Posts on the subject, therefore I surmise that all is well on the PDAs as regards the problem we are discussing.
The PDA users lock onto the same satellites as we ‘Go’ users and yet there are no new Topics concerning the issue. Therefore I don’t think we should blame the yanks for the errors that appear to be cropping up. Is It perhaps the QuickGPSfix? The idea has allready been put forward and it may turn out to be correct. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I had the same problem as everyone here just tonight.
My 720 was fine driving home from work, but was way off track for half my journey in Warwickshire this evening. |
