I have just had to reinstall Windows consequently I have to reinstall all the software.
Is it possible to install CM without having to load V6.5 then 7.0 then 7.0.3 on to the PND?
The answer is unfortunately NO. |

Did you ever work this one out? Doesn't the DVD have to be re-activated after re-installing Windows? Can the V6.5 DVD be re-activated when you have V7.0.3 software on the Sat-Nav? This was just a thought I had if I ever needed to re-install.
I ran into a similar issue on my work Computer, I updated the Sat-Nav at home but then it wouldn't allow me to install V7 Content Manager on my Work Computer. I got an error when I connected the Sat Nav saying that the software on the SatNav was incompatible with the software on my computer.
As a precaution, I copied my SD Card onto my Hard Drive, per a recommendation in one of the other posts. _________________ ViaMichelin X-980T

As a consequence of reinstalling on the PC, you also 'downgrade' the device. This assumes that the base programme you have is v6 on DVD and only have updates thereafter.
I had to reinstall recently and it all went smoothly. Remember to back up (copy) the SD card just in case. _________________ Mike

It did with me - I had to re-install everything again together with new activations. |

Whenever I have reinstalled I have always activated the software then pulled the plug before it downgraded the software. No point in wasting 2 + hours of installing v6 software and maps. |

What happens if you want to run the CM on two computers..I use my home PC generally, but when I am on the road I might wish to update something, so ideally, I would like to have CM on the laptop as well.
From the foregoing, above, I guess that if I do install the CM software on the laptop it will not recognise the updated device and I will have to start from scratch. _________________ Gee-Pee

I just worked this one out! DO NOT connect the Sat Nav to the second computer. Insert the DVD, it will uninstall the old version, then start installing the new version. Eventually, you will be prompted to connect the Sat Nav, then you will be given a Product Code. Go to the website and request a new Activation Code and paste it in. Content Manager then installs.
You need to watch closely and pull the Sat Nav plug as soon as Content Manager is installed to avoid having to wait for the Sat Nav go through its update process again. Its advisable to have a backup copy of the SD card just in case all goes wrong. Backing up just before doing this ensures that all your latest destinations are preserved. _________________ ViaMichelin X-980T
