Hello all, am using firefox on linux, I select 10 top-level categories to download, UK is selected, tomtom format is selected, "combine subcategories" is selected, "show link" is selected (I've also tried this deselected but it makes no difference). All I get when hitting "download" is "modules.php", an empty file. The site doesn't appear to be windows-only, it mentions macs and firefox so should work on firefox for linux.

Cheers all!

Also not working in "opera mini" on a symbian mobile (N95), which is a shame, although I get further than I do with firefox on linux, on opera mini I get redirected to a page that tells me I need to select some categories, despite 10 being selected. Shame really as opera mini is pretty darned good at web pages normally.

The built-in phone browser gets to the point at which I select the categories but while I can expand the categories I can't select any as it doesn't render the tick-boxes ;-) It's not a wonderful browser really!

Back off the number of POI files downloaded in a single hit, if you are selecting the Combine Subcats and ten top line headings it will fail, you need to keep the number of subcats down to around 20 for this to work - try a simple download of a single category to get used to the system - Mike

Hmm, is there any particular reason why it allows you to do it if it can't be done? I'm trying to download the whole of the accomodation category for example as one file and I'm just getting "modules.php". Are you saying that the "combine categories" function basically isn't working? Is there a fix in the offing?

I've just tried selecting one category only (accomodation) and on firefox I still just get a blank "modules.php" file. IE7 just claims the internet has gone away, despite that not being the case!

If you want the entire category as a combined Sub cat you have to download the data in blocks of 20 sub categories at a time, you can then use POI Edit to concatenate the three downloaded files into a single entity (use the file/ append function to achieve this) - I have sent you the full POI file by e-mail which I have just downloaded and assembled into a single file, it doesn't take long to do - Mike

Thanks Mike, I'm after another ten categories though, and don't want to be fiddling about with windows programmes (POIEdit only runs under windows), I'll pop back in a few months and see if the website's working then, it's not that urgent, it'd just be nice to have the files in easily manageable sizes.

OK, for the use of anyone else who has this problem, looks like most of them will download in firefox even using the category-as-one-file approach, the following came down fine;

ATM
Car Parts Suppliers
Fuel
Healthcare
Shopping - Consumer Electrics
Shopping - Supermarkets
Transport
Wifi hotspot

The ones that failed were Accommodation and Food And Drink.

And the reason they fail to download is when combine as subcats is chosen you exceed the limit, the only we know of to overcome this is as I outlined above using a third party application to join the individual downloded files back into one single POI category - Mike

It is working so have you tried reducing the number of POIs you download?

Have you ticked Show Link?

Which version are you downloading? OV2 or CSV.

I keep sticking on..

"Loading POI categories (if this takes more than 1 minute please refresh selected country above)..."

I wait. click Refresh on country. Refresh the page. Tried IE7 and Firefox.
No joy. Just sticks there.
