Hello guys, newbie to the world of gps here.
I've just bought a nuvi 350 white box and would like a few
questions answered if possible.
My unit has V9 maps,am I entitled to a free 2008 update?
(I bought in Jan) are white boxes eligible for this?
I entered my serial number on the garmin site and they stated
no new updates available
It came with speed cameras installed,is this temporary or permanent?
And finally,it has software version 4.80 onboard,if i download 5.30
will this encompass previous updates?
Any white box owners know the answers
Many thanks |

The updates for the new maps only went live today (or yesterday). I had problems getting confirmation i could get an update for my i3. The methods you used still tells me no update is available, however by going into My Garmin i finally found out that there is an update. Garmin will be the best people to ask re: free updates.

This sis the Garmin database which i believe is permanent but needs updating and paying for. I think you get a free trial. It's not as good as the PGPSW one and doesn't offer the chance to win a free lifetime subscription either....

If you download and install a firmware update it includes all previous fixes and features. |

More info on the Garmin database here
However MaFt had this to say about the Garmin database in a recent Garmin 710 review.
Quote: | Two Truvelo cameras I passed in Leeds were not in the Cyclops database but were in the PocketGPSWOrld.com database with ID numbers of around 2,000 – meaning they have been in our database for a good four or five years. Another example is on Manchester road in Bradford, the Nuvi warned me of a 30mph Gatso while travelling south – this camera has never even existed. There is, however, a Redlight camera on the opposite carriageway that has been there for years and is correctly identified in the PocketGPSWorld.com database. |
