Am i right in thinking that you can only use the latest map guarantee once? Not good if you have only just updated from 705 to 710. _________________ Samsung Mega

Good question.
BUT another good question would be "Did ANYBODY actually manage to use Latest Map Guarantee", because I don't know anyone who DID - all the new maps I heard of were either reluctantly provided to the people who complained persistently (like me) or people who simply clicked on "Update my GO". Not a single report of somebody who clicked on Use Latest Map Guarantee and actually got a new map from it! _________________ Dennis

I would say not...
The IMPLICATION is that you should have access to the most up-to-date maps available at a point 30 days after you purchased your hardware (or first used it, or whatever).
However, this is TomTom we're talking about, so whether this is physically possible to achieve is debatable, whether due to TomTom maybe having carefully written the terms and conditions to dis-allow it, or (more likely) that they simply haven't thought about it, so the systems aren't in place to do it without a struggle.
****EDIT*** Ignore me! See below...

So somebody who bought a 520/720 last week with v705 map, used Latest Map Guarantee last Friday to get v710 and today can use it again to get v715.
How do you get these things to fall over and roll around? _________________ Dennis

NO I WAS ENTIRELY WRONG!!
I've just checked. According to THIS PAGE on the TomTom website:
Quote: | Latest map guarantee means that if a newer map is released during 30 days from when you first start using your device, you’re entitled to one free map download.
You can check as often as you wish during your 30 day guarantee to see if a newer map has been released. |

Make a FULL BACKUP of your device if you haven't already done, so, then copy the existing W&CE map to your computer (double backup, if you like) and then remove it from the device. Finally, copy your new one over. _________________ Tim |

I thought the later versions of Home actually guided you through your options... maybe it's got messed up in Home v2.2..
Basically you will need to remove the old map first, you can do that in Home ("Remove items from your device"), but it is ESSENTIAL you do a backup first in case anything goes wrong.
You can also do that in Home, but we always strongly suggest you do it with Windows Explorer instead. See #1 in the FAQs topic in the "stickies" at the top of this forum section for instructions.
There is also a page on the TT website about making room by deleting old maps http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&query=space&FID=6953
P.S. Sorry Tim, I'm being lazy and not checking for overlapping posts before I "submit" today |

Can you check these coordinates on the new map?
N 53.49326, W 2.95075 (Switch Island near Aintree).
I want to see if the report of this error that TT acknowledged made it into the latest maps. It was a TeleAtlas error that is quite bizarre, as it was correct in the version 6.60 map but reverted to the old state in version 7 maps. The massive circular interchange was changed in 2006 to have a bisecting through road.
Read this thread to see what the correct configuration should be:

Chaps,
I tried to use the 'Latest Map Guarantee' to update my Western and Central European map from 7.10 to 7.15, but received the message that I already had the latest map.
Contacted TomTom, they told me that they are having 'issues' with the map server, and that I had to send them a copy of proof of purchase to get my upgrade.
I have done this and now await for my account to be updated so I can finally download my new map _________________ TomTom 920(T)

I've got both hands on top of my head, Dennis, so I'll remind you very quietly that Latest Map Guarantee worked for me too, then make a hasty exit.
And I've already had my prize! _________________ Anita
