Try copying the old Map to the PC. Then it won't have a choice.
As dhn said earlier, open the .pna file, in the Map Folder, with Notepad.
Have you got a Western Europe Map Folder on the Device as well as the Western and Central Europe Map Folder? _________________ Richard

I've just discovered I don't have a pna file in the new folder or in any of the three d/l's I've done. now i'm wondering what other files are missing. I'll try moving the renamed old map folder off the 901 and see what happens. Are you sure there aren't any files from the original folder needed to make v7 maps work? (excluding favourites, poi's etc) _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

Each Map install is a complete install.
Check that there is a .pna in the Zip File.
If you Open the Zip with Winzip you can Right Click the .pna that should be there and select Open with. Choose Notepad and it should say something like:
ID=Western_and_Central_Europe.pna
*00******
710
build=1561
id=****** _________________ Richard

Finally success! As far as I can gather it appears the previous d/ls were corrupt. Although I could open the original zip file on the PC, the extraction stopped before completing each time, although thre was no warning or error message which made me start thinking it may be a USB fault. I copied the whole zip file to the new folder on the 910 and tried to ectract it in place, but this gave an error message (right at the end of course). I thought I'd try one more attempt to d'l the map, and after 9 hours this time (2-3 previously) it started the install process, which finally gave me the new maps.
FWIW after reboot, when asking me to choose a map, it could still see the old renamed folder, and hence I had two W&CE maps to choose from, with no indication as to which was which.
Flushed with success, and as always willing to push my luck, I then renamed the new W&CE folder on the TT, restored the original (6.5) maps folder and ran install again. Fortunatly it went perfectly and I now have the nwe maps in the original folder complete with all my custom POIs, recent destinations etc.
I realy do feal that if TT are going to continue the d/l only method of file delivery, they should come up with some way of verifying the integrity of the files after d/l. twice on previous attempts Home incorrectly told me the d/l was succesful and once incorrectly told me installation was complete.
My thanks to those who offered advice and help. _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

Now do a Full Backup using Explorer.
For what it's worth the ID Line in the .pna File is what is displayed when you select a Map. _________________ Richard

Thanks! I needed that, I'm normally very good at backing up working installations, but this time I forgot! _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155
