Well after driving round with this for a few days now and my problems with dropped signal strength while charging the Carcomm cradle has nearly cured this problem.I now get signals where I never did before. |

Where did you actually get the mount from, I could not see the option to buy a mount on Carcomm's website _________________ If it ain't broke then fiddle with it until it is! |

Bought it from http://www.pdaplus.nl/catalog/index.php
Yes I read your review but at the time you wrote it the OneXL cradle did not have the TMC lead which is why I posted to say it now comes with this and it has solved all my problems of charging.
I have hard wired it in,mounted it on a Brodit clip and run the TMC extension behind the dash and up to the corner of the window, very neat. |

I've now updated the review to add the availability of the XL with TMC version _________________ Darren Griffin |

Glad to hear it, it's my cradle of choice, works well, looks good and means I have been able to semi-discretely install the TMC antenna at last as I hate trailing wires!
I've got the pigtail routed under the dash and out to the near-side A Pillar. The antenna then routes up the A pillar secured using some clips I had over from a very old cellphone car-kit install.
It's not perfect but it is a darn sight neater than before! _________________ Darren Griffin |

I know what you mean about looking bulky but when you put the tomtom in it somehow makes it look smaller and you don't notice it so much. |

Any idea if the TMC extension lead is available by itself? |

No it's not as it's built in to the unit. |

However, Carcomm must be either manufacturing or purchasing the extension. Has anyone tried contacting their customer support to see if they would consider selling it separately. They may not realise that there is a potential market for this! _________________ Jock

Just wanted to add that I bought the carcomm cnm-160 on the recommendation of this thread over the brodit powered mount due to the lack of tmc lock on in a SEAT leon (tomtom 520t)
i'd tried all sorts of aerial positions with no joy.
as soon as this is connected it locks on straight away! tuning by the tomtom is almost instant and stays locked on during my travels to work(shoreham to gatwick). normally the tomtom would not lock at all with the standard aerial.
the tmc is run under the dash and up behind the a piller and under the front roof lining.
glad i paid the extra. |
