I've bought a new map for my TT710 but am unable to download it using TomTom Home. It wont let me log on. I've tried resetting my password but still the same.
It let me download TT v7 and I've installed that ok. I contacted TomTom and they say disable any firewall but that didn't do the trick.
Is there any other way of downloading maps from TomTom or does it have to be throuth TT Home? _________________ Paul

It has to be through Home, because they now use Home to "lock" the map to your particular machine.
Are you using Home v2.1? v1.5/1.6 will not successfully download v7 maps.
How can you reset your password if you can't log on?
Get the log in sorted out first. Once logged in, your email address should appear top right of the Home screen.
Are you then going to "Update my device"?
Maps you have bought should appear there, NOT in "Add maps, Traffic, Voices etc." |

Sorry, I didn't make it clear, I can log on to the TT site but not TomTom Home. I thought there might have been a problem with my password so I clicked on "forgot your password" and an email was sent to my email address straight away directing me to the TomTom site and allowing me to change my password in my profile.
I've tried both versions of TT Home. _________________ Paul

It just says "Log in", but thinking about it what else would it say if I'm unable to log in, which is why I came on in the first place. _________________ Paul

I am just trying to take you through it one step at a time and we usually get there in the end. And when you get logged in you will get your map.
If you click on the login have you checked that these are the same as the ones to log in to your TomTom.com account. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

sorry, I do appreciate the help, but it's frustrating when you've paid for something and can't get at it. You guys are certainly more helpful than TomTom _________________ Paul

I know how you feel. It took me 3 months to get my hands free fixed thanks to TomTom.
Have you checked if the login details in TT Home are the same as the ones you use to when you go to TomTom.com. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Have you got a TomTom Home account setup with the Blue Angel (XDAIIs) if so you will need to use another e-mail address for the new account that is linked to the 710, this is a limitation of the TT Home software (I think they call it security) - Mike |

With your TomTom connected go to TT Home 2.1 and click on (Update my GO) and what does it come up with. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Oh well Tea's not ready yet, how long's it take to warm up an Indian? Good video though.
When I go to update my device it asks me to log on, which I can't.
Mike, I've tried to change my device on the TT site but it won't let me change the device code. Says I can only do it once every 6 months, but it was well over a year ago when I last did it.
Something I forgot to mention, when the log in fails, it comes up with " a SAM server error has occurred" I did inform TT of this and thats why they said switch off your firewall. I've also checked my netgear router to check if it's blocking the TomTom service _________________ Paul

I got the SAM error a few times over christmas and it was the overload on the TT servers. I would'nt change anything just yet and try again later at night when it is less busy.
Have you logged in to your 710 before in thisd account as Mike made a good point. For every TT unit you have you need a different e-mail address for each one. Make sure you are using the right one for the 710. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

If you Home account is associated with your Blue Angel and TomTom Nav 6 then you will not be able to log in for a map to put on your 710, you need another e-mail address (ask DennisN about this I think he has about 8)
As for the SAM error I have never seen that but it if is server related I would try again this morning as these problems are usually short lived.
Glad you like the video, my 14th flight on the "little" aircraft - Mike |
