I've noticed only high-end all-in-one nav systems have gyroscope support. I've been searching around for a bluetooth or even serial gyroscope, so PDA users can get the same feature, with no success. Bummer!
Or is there just a well-kept secret? If someone knows of a way for a PDA user to get gyroscope capability, please post! |

You can get gyro units that work with the PDA, they are intended more for the aviation enthusiast to be honest.
The car based PDA software will not be able to use a Gyro signal, and when you see the price of such hardware something like a TomTom 920 with built in Gyro will look cheap! see Here for one such Gyro - Mike |

I am a pilot, so your feedback was indeed helpful. Though the price is nuts, perhaps even for aviation.
I figured the s/w would be lacking; but then I could always take an interest in writing it myself - if the hardware were cheap enough.
I recently found a discontinued street gps unit for $150, which has a gyro in it. But probably no way to export the gyros output from that.
It's also interesting that Gyration can make a battery powered wireless gyroscopic mouse for under $100, so certainly the $1k unit has a considerable markup, even though it may have more precision. |
