So is this the latest postcode file?
If so, do i just remove the old Great Britain and Netherland files (keeping the .ver files) in the zip folder and then copying these new files into it?

Yes, you just copy the ".postal" files across, but DON'T keep the .ver file.
All the .ver file does, is say what version the postcodes are, so if you keep the old one Home will always report the old version. Better to have no file than the wrong one!
BUT, if you read posts above, as you have a 720, the UK file is very possibly the same as you have already and the Netherlands one is older than you already have. |

philgo and I have looked at this postcode he mentioned above (he wasn't keep to publish the actual postcode as it belonged to a friend of his!).
He said that it wasn't in his old postcodes file, but now it comes up as an un-named road.
(he wasn't keep to publish the actual postcode as it belonged to a friend of his!)
Here's what I found:
My 720 with v705 maps and my original version701 postcodes finds this postcode fine, and places it on an un-named road.
(I believe the fact the road is un-named (EVEN in the list presented when you type in the postcode) is down to the MAP version, not the postcodes file.)
But even so, as an experiment, I replaced my file with the one from TomTom's download link. The result was exactly the same. Correct road, but un-named.
So I still maintain that the postcode file TT is offering us at the moment is still version 701.
I've asked philgo if he's SURE his old file was version 701 |

"quote"I know it is easy to create a ver file yourself, but the whole point is that if YOU create it, we've no guarantee that the version number really is correct. That's TomTom's job...."quote"
True, i suppose it comes down to how much you want the info.I made the mistake of trying to help someone.
As i said my mailing came with the VER files from TomTom themselves.
On your basis, i know mine are 701 and 601 respectively. Then again TomTom might of just put them there for the fun of it. |

If I've offended in any way I'm truly sorry, but what I'm trying to say that TT are quite capable of sending completely different versions of the file to different people (only two weeks ago, they sent me a link to "latest" GB postcodes that were version 5!!).
If they sent you a version WITH the version file, that's great; but unless we compare file sizes etc. thare is NO guarantee that anyone else got the same one, and so if they make up a version number file without confirming it, that's just asking for confusion. |

Sorry Andy, not at all.
Just reread my post. Not meant to sound huffy, sorry.
It was just that a few people were wanting the VEr file to show up in their app.
I do agree, that there is no point creating one if you can't verify the content. |

Looking back over the posts...
Am I right in thinking that those who received the postcodes via Home got the ver files and those who were sent a link to download them from the web didn't? |

Afraid not Andy, I got mine as a link at the bottom of my Question in My Question History in the TT website, not home and i got both GB and NL POSTAL files and .VER files to go with them. If people are wanting them to show the .VER files( I agree seeing the .VER files is a bit reeassuring to some people) and it is ok i will post the link i got for download that is GB701 and NL704. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Sorry Andy you are right, I must have compare the downloaded file with with my 604 version rather than 701.
I agree that the one from the download is the same size so it must be 701.
Part of my confusion came from right clicking the file and choosing properties this reports the file size as 9308529 bytes and explorer shows it as 9091kb. Of course they are both correct 9308529\1024 = 9091 but it confused me.
Nice to know that people can dowload 701 now though. |

Assuming it is a web address, just type your post as normal, then click on the {URL} button at the top of the window paste the Web address and then click on the {URL} button again. |
