Hi, yep its dam good i have had one since Xmas and its just the ticket.
You can use it anywhere you like you will just have to buy the relevant map for the area you want, you will also have to buy an SD Card to put the map on.
I have the GB/NI map loaded on the unit (as it comes as standard) and a Western Europe map on an 4GB SD Card, all works just great, and this is the place to find out anything you want there a fantastic bunch of people here more that willing to help.
Have fun!!
Dave. |

I agree with the above I think it's great. I am going to the States in April and I am going to buy the maps before the end of Jan while there half price.
I also agree that this is the site to find out just about anything so have a look around and don't be afraid to ask any questions no matter how stupied you think they are people here are great and will always try to help. _________________ TomTom Go 950 Live.

Up to you, but if you know you are going to be travelling to Europe, why not go for the Go720 instead?
The 720's map of Western Europe is "seamless" so you can navigate door to door from the UK to your destination in one go.
If you buy a European country map for the 520, it will only navigate within that country unless you "switch map" back to the UK. |

You might like to consider getting the TomTom GO720 instead. It comes complete with Western Europe map (which includes GB & Ireland) and the price right now is probably less than the combination of GO520 + extra SD card + reduced price (until 31st Jan) map (just Portugal & Spain is £30, or the whole of Western Europe is £40).
Assuming you get one or the other, your first job before you start to enjoy it is to back it up (using Windows Explorer). _________________ Dennis

Is there any difference between the 520 and 720 apart from the extra maps? |

The only differences are the maps themselves and that the 520 has 512MB of internal flash memory to store the map on and the 720 has 2GB.
Otherwise they are identical.
This means that if you wanted to put the Western Europe map, for example, on a 520, you would have to put it on an SD card. |
