Hi, anyone know how to change the default safety cam sounds to custom ones.
When I first got the GO, I just added files named Safety_Cam_UK_30_TomTom.ogg (etc) to the Western Europe folder and it worked fine, then I connected to Home and downloaded some updates.
The .ogg files are still in the folder, along with the the .ov2 .bmp and .ver files, but the sounds have reverted to the inbuilt ones.
As I'm typing this, I've just noticed files named (eg.) Safety_Cam_UK_30_TomTomOv2.ver
Won't have a chance to try it until tomorrow, but could it be that my .ogg files need to be renamed with the "TomTomOv2" bit? |

Exactly right. In order for the .OGG files to work with the corresponding Camera it has to have to exact name exept the last 3 which as you know is .OGG _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

but the only one of the files not named alike is the one that ends TomTomOv2.ver, the .ogg .bmp and .ov2 files are the same. I will try it and see what happens.
Thanks for the quick response |

That one does'nt really matter. As long as the .ov2, .ogg and .bmp are all the same you will be OK. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

that only worked until I downloaded the updates.
despite all the file names being the same, it no longer works. |

As i dont use the TT ones anymore the only other thing i can suggest is that because you have done an update to the cameras you might have to go into the (warn when near POI) again and set up the distances and confirm for them to enable like before the update. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

I don't know of anyone else using this method with the TT supplied cameras, and to be honest, I'm quite suprised it works as TT have made everything else about them non-standard!
Anyway, unless they have finally crippled it, I guess it should still work if you make sure the names match again.
However, if it doesn't, you can move on to the "newest" method I describe HERE
That will work, but you may want to edit the ogg file names yet again to make them shorter, so the names show up on screen better! |
