|
|
I am currently using a good 2gb sd card in my Clasic. But want to download a few mor maps - and tomtom home has said to remove some data as the card is getting full -- which I am loath to do at the moment..
Can I get a 4 GB card that will work in the Clasic??
point me in the right direction please...

You should be ok with any popular brand as long as it is NOT SDHC as the older unit's don't support it. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)
iphone (running all day, doesn't like it)
XL LIVE IQ Routes (Got stolen and miss it)
GO 510 (in drawer now, time for upgrade) |

Not many do them.....
If you try the search I didn't suggest in your other post, Maurice, you'll find "Topram" and "Transcend" are two brands that do 4GB non-SDHC cards. The speed of both is quoted as 150X. |

Thanks Andy
sent from ebuyer...
and it was specific that it worked with the "older" TomToms as the newer SDHC cards would not..
any way if it dont work it will go in the Cam...

That should be OK... 150 times IS pretty high speed.
So long as they have specified it isn't HDSC, it should be right. |

OK I think I am in trouble again ---
got the new card and put it in the card reader and it cam up card is not formated - do you want to format now -- so I said yes..
ticked away and then cam up with the message - card formated and gave me the size etc..
OK now I was going to copy my 2 GB card over onto the 4 Gb card..
so opened up two windows with Windows Explorer..
High lighted the files on the 2 gb card and copy.. then paste to the 4 gb..
gets about 1/4 the way through and comes up with a message that cant copy file -- then come up with -- this card is not formated do you want to format now??
I already did that... and some files were seen going over -- as you do..
but then it refused to do any more..
what do I do??
Should I reformat - again?
and start over..
or how DO I copy this 2 gb SD to the 4 gb SD?? _________________ Happy to meet -- Sorry to part -- Happy to meet again |

Copy the contents of the 2GB card to the PC (put a folder on the desktop to place it all in), then open the folder on the PC desktop and copy the files to the new larger card, trying to copy large amounts of data from one card straight to another card is not a good idea, in theory it should work, in practice it often fails - Mike |

Just tried that (made a file called 2 gig and transfered it -or so I thought ) and thought it had worked -- but taking card from card reader and putting into Tom -- it comes up with big Red cross !!
Try to read card again and -- Card is not formated etc etc..
feeling like sh*t at the moment..
I will try again --- computers were supposed to make life simpler -- weren't they??
any other ideas _________________ Happy to meet -- Sorry to part -- Happy to meet again |
