I noticed that the original Western Europe map showed as 1.4 Gb in TomTom HOME and the new map is only 99.4 Mb
How can this be right?
Surely if the new map has more roads etc. it should be larger or am I missing something? _________________ Howard

If it really is the size you state then there is a problem!
Assuming you mean 994MB (which is the size quoted on the web site) then perhaps they have missed out some of the detail? Things like rivers/parks etc may be left out to conserve space. There is also lots of internal use info (ie not directly mapping info) that may have been tidied up. _________________ Phil |

The old one is Navteq and the new one is Teleatlas, on mine both are similar size (10mb difference) |

Oops. Yes, I meant 994 Mb - slip of the digit.
If the provider has changed then it could explain the difference in size. I guess TeleAtlas have minimised the data somehow.
I just wanted to be sure that I have the full map - I'm off to Limoges (France) in August and I'm looking forward to using the 'joined up' European map. _________________ Howard

It may be worth checking the versions, i have noticed that in my local uk area the earlier Navteq map is more uptodate than the later Teleatlas.cannot cooment on france though. |
