Hi,
Have a TOmTOm Go700 which I bought about 2 years ago. I've been dissapointed with the quality of the maps for sometime, there seems to be a load of major roads not included, so I decided to update the maps.
Paid £30 for a new map download from Tomtom and on my first journey (15 miles) I found three roads, all older than three years not included.
There is even a major bypass (around Bedford) which is two years old and that's just a farmers field according to TomTom.
I've since been on longer journeys and have found stack of roads still not included on this "new" map.
I've complained to TomTom but am not holding my breath.
What other options are there for better quality maps or should I just upgrade the device?
mapshare does not work with this device either.
Thanks

Not sure which map as I dont have the TT with me. I bought it off TomTom about 2 weeks ago though.
Will have to check which version of the OS installed also and post back here.
Can you use third party maps with TT? |

If you bought the map 2 weeks ago then i would check what software you are running when you are with your TT again as that could be the problem( as Oldboy said). Simply tap the signal strenth bar and you will see the version there. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Once you have tapped the signal strength bar and read the software version on the next screen...
Tap THAT small box and then read the map version you are actually running from the following screen. Report back with both numbers. |

Hi,
Device AK8SQ AAPLUS
App 7.162 (8492/071121) OS:2327
GPS v1.21, Boot 5.4201
Map 'Western_Europ-Map' v606.0
Language: English UK
The new map I bough was UK + Ireland not the one shown above. could it be that the TT is using the wrong map?
TomTom HOME still says the device and/or map are incompatable with map share. Again does this point to me usign the wrong map?
Cheers

Ah, just switched maps and now the TT says the map is 'UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE' and the version is v675.1409.
Doh... Looks like I should have read the manual. |

As you are running v606 maps you will not recieve the mapshare program. You will have to buy and install the latest map to get it. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Change Preferences/ Manage Maps/ Switch Maps then select the new map from the presented list, you are still using the old map by the looks of that and I would have expected it to be version 660 not 606 - Mike |

I dont seem to type quick enough. If you have now switched to the v675 map you may infact be able to recieve mapshare as others with that v are getting it.
EDIT- I was also thinking that Mike but was to old a map anyway so never mentioned it. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Somethings not right here. Why would a map bought two weeks ago be a version 6.75 map on a device with version 7.162 software? Surely a version 7.10 map should have been provided? |

Good point, I will raise this with TomTom support. |
