Some of the models come with maps on CD/DVD along with mapsource, or possibly on a map update CD/DVD. _________________ Samsung Mega

My Nüvi 310 qualified for a free map upgrade and they sent me two! (and an upgrade from Region 7 to the whole of Europe).
You're not missing much unless you've got a unit that allows supports downloadable Routes and uploadable tracks. |

To Garmin users the word Mapsource has different meanings:-
A program that operates on the PC to transfer maps, routes, waypoints or tracks. It can be part of your mapping software DVD or a 'Waypoint and trip software' CD.
It is the word used with the Mapping software :-
Mapsource City Select/CityNavigator/Metroguide/TOPO
If a unit has pre-loaded maps or maps on a SD card then you do not get the CD or DVD - after all they are worth £100 plus [more than some units themselves]
Soooooooooo what are you really trying to get from Garmin? |

I was hoping to get the maps that I have on my Nuvi 200 displayed on my computer, so I can view the poi's that I enter.
When I regester my nuvi with Garmin I was giving a unlock code. I assume that it is for the PC to view the maps, Right?
Right now I have to use Delorme's Street atlas to geocode the POI I want, write it down, edit it with "Csved" ,save it to Garmin's formant, re edit it to delorme's format. What a pain!
Is there a bettery way? |

If you do not have the DVD CityNavigator then as yet you have no maps to unlock on the PC, but you may need the code to register the maps to the unit!
The cheapest and quickest way to get maps on the PC is to buy Metroguide Europe v9 for less than £20 on eBay. You would have identical maps to CityNavigator v9. |
