I am not really happy with my findings. It said everything the same as you have stated Mike accept the last 3 digits which is 504. I am no rocket scientist but i think that this is so old that the reply i got from TT today which i posted about postcodes are updated with the maps is a load of and i never say things like that. So the next question is where can i get the 701 files from.
Good job i never meet any TT reps. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

You can run the software and use it to install the file to a folder on your computer. I have done this and opened it with wordpad but I can't see any version number. |

I see that. The reason why is because there is no .ver file downloaded with it. It is just the postal file and a text file saying (do not delete this folder) so we do not know what version it is and never will. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

I've just realised it's the .ver file that you open, unfortunately it doesn't give a .ver file just a .postal |

I have noticed that this file is larger that the one i have but not sure what to do. I am somehow going to get the v701 files.
Infact did TomTom not tell someone that they could copy their postcode files onto thier friends TomTom and this was ok. If so could the files not be e-mailed or put on here. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

I am meaning that someone with the v710 postcodes could e-mail their entire folder for others to copy and install onto their TT. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

I meant that I will put the file on my Tomtom and checkout any postcodes that are not on 701, if someone knows one. |

The download file in the original link is 9834MB
V701 is 9091MB
V504 is 9651MB
The V504 was supplied with the original x10 devices that were shipped with V650 maps - I have just been through some of my backups to check.
If the file size has come down has the UK shrunk, clearly the answer is no, have the number of smaller roads included within maps decreased - or does anyone have any other idea how the postcode data can decrease in file size - there is always file compression but I doubt that to be honest, that said if the road doesn't exist within the coresponding map file there is little point including postcode data for it - Mike |

So is there any way of getting a link to the 701 files as TT said it is ok Mike. Maybe someone copying theirs and posting them. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)
