This is just a query: I submitted a mobile camera site to you and received a confirmation email from you on the 4th Jan 08 and I have just downloaded the latest speed camera database but cannot find the submission I made in (tbamobile) file.
It may be that I haven't allowed you enough time to process this - but it would be helpful to know how long from submission to publication the period normally is. I am sure you are inundated with submissions!
Thank you . |

This is a question that is asked repeatedly.
So perhaps I could steer you in the direction of a good write up on what happens in the background.

Oldboy,
Thanks very much for the reply. I think I can speak for everybody on the site that we owe the 39 - 40 verifiers a very big thankyou for all the time and effort they put into providing us with this database. I have previously read the topic you directed me to. I may have not explained myself clearly, but what I was querying was, in the tbmobile files are there mobile cameras that have been submitted but not yet verified? For our benefit to warn us of a possible camera in that location.
The second part of my question is that I received confirmation on the 4th of January '08, and expected my submission to be in this latest release of the camera database under 'tbmobile'. Have I not allowed sufficient time for my submission to be put into this latest release? Have I misunderstood the definition of 'tbmobile'?
Once again, can I reiterate the many thanks for all the hard work and dedication that the verifiers and writers put into this database.

Just checked on Google map and the coords are right but on the longitude, there's a minus in front of the 1.4432. Sorry, this is my first camera submission!

ok, no problems - it'll be in the next update (assuming you put a useable comment in there!)

MaFt,
Thanks for the reply, again, sorry for the inconvenience. Would you clarify one more thing please? In my mobile submission, I put as a comment,
'parked in a police only vehicle layby'.
Is this an accurate usable comment?
Many thanks,
Paul |

yes - we need descriptions of the actual location so when a verifier gets there they can see, in your example, that the police bay exists and can therefore confirm the coordinates.
if the coordinates submitted are a hundred meters or so out then they can be corrected and 'moved' to the correct location as described.
quite a few sites have been rejected as the comments do not match the actual submitted location - eg 'outside a row of shops' and when the verifier visits there are no shops nearby then we know th coordinates are wrong so gets rejected.
hope that makes sense!

On the subject of mobile submissions, one option on the submissions page is "Mobile seen again".
Is the "Mobile seen again" option intended only for reporting sightings of pMobiles in order to help with their addition to the database, or is that option intended for ALL mobiles in order to help monitor active mobile sites? _________________ Andy

ALL Mobiles, I copied this from the download page.
"In a bid to try and keep the camera database as up to date as possible can you submit mobile cameras whenever you see them even if they are already in the database. Please only submit them when you actually see a mobile unit present and put a note in the comments field stating that it has "been seen again" _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

both
with regards to pMobiles it helps confirm their active state - i.e. it is in use.
with regards to active mobiles it gets used when someone says 'i travel here everyday on the way to work and there's never a camera here' to which we can say 'actually, one was reported yesterday' (or similar)
