I have read the manual and cannot find the maximum size of memory card the device will take. I want to put music on it. I have tried a 2 gig and that is fine, but want to purchase a larger storage card. Anyone know the maximum size it will take? |

It will work fine with a 4GB card and the device does support the SDHC format, I have been using an 8GB card for a while now in my 720 as have a few others they are a little troublesome to get working correctly as you will need an SDHC compliant card reader though - Mike |

What a disappointment Mike - you were looking for a guinea pig to try out the latest 16GB cards the other day. Why let this guy off the hook? _________________ Dennis

I have a 720 and just purchased a 4gb SDHC card, I dont seem to be able to get the PC to read it through the TT, any suggestions would be appreciated. |

My new 4GB SDHC card arrived today (to replace the 2GB one that got "borrowed" for my daughter's new camera).
Stuck it in the 720 (whilst it was already connected to the PC actually), it opened an explorer window and I copied the backup I'd taken of the old card back onto it in a couple of minutes.
Can't think of what tips I can give... it just worked.
(It was an "Integral" Brand card by the way, bought from Amazon/Memory Bits) |

Try looking at it with a card reader. My internal card reader wouldn't recognise my new card, so picking up on what somebody else said, I bought an external reader from Maplins they have a 32 - in 1 one (T8 EBlue - their stock number A95FT) on offer at the moment for £9.99. It worked first time, you'd be able to format the card with it if needed. _________________ Dennis

My new card came with a USB reader, not one of the multiple card type ones, just SD, but it specifically said "compatible with SDHC" on it, so it looks like you have to get the RIGHT reader.
But having said that, as I mentioned above, I didn't use it; I just bunged it in the TomTom and it worked straight away (no re-formatting either). |

Hi, Thanks for the info, I haven't tried reading it through a card reader just through the TT whilst in the cradle. When I viewed it within "My Computer" it appeared as an external drive but it wouldnt open, just said please insert a disk in drive. I wondered whether it needed formating or not?? |
