Yes, there is an updated version but some people like it and some prefer the older version. Also with the newer version you can use mapshare. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)
iphone (running all day, doesn't like it)
XL LIVE IQ Routes (Got stolen and miss it)
GO 510 (in drawer now, time for upgrade) |

To give you an idea the following map releases have occured since your purchase:
v660
v675
v705 (needs the device to be updated to version 7 software)
v710 (as for v705)
The big difference you would notice is the extended London Conjestion charge zone, but if you don't need this and the map looks OK to you why change? - check the upgrade prices though as TomTom have been running a discounted map purchase price for the last few weeks - Mike |

Just checking the obvious:? , but when maps are talked about they are written for eaxample as, 710 but when you go to the TT site for a download it calls the latest map 7.10
Are they the same and do people on the forum call it 710 so as not to confuse the map with an application number like 7.2 etc |

If you look at the map version on your TomTom, you will find that it is written as Version 710, rather than 7.10.
Yes they are the same - it is an inconsistency from TomTom. |

I'll have to try entering heaven as the destination but I suspect my TomTom would have problems getting me there. |

sorry about delay in answering. what do you mean 'needs the device to be updated to version 7 software)?
does this happen automatically or how do you do this.
thanks in advance.

Do you have TomTom's PC utility "Home"?
You need that to update your TomTom to v7 software in order to use v7 maps.
Get Home v2.2 from HERE (left hand link) and then with your TT connected to the PC run Home and it should automatically ask if you want to update the software. If it doesn't do it automatically, click on 'update my device'. You may have to log in (top right) to achieve this. |
