I have been collating all the GPS map references of places I have to visit this summer and thought I would try some of them out. Each time I enter one on my device it says the location must be within 25Km of a road and refuses to create a route.
I have put my own home in and the same dialog box appears.
Has anyone tried? Did you get the same results and am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
As a test try this famous landmark and tell me where it is
51° 30’ 02,61 N
0° 07’ 30,07” W

Sometimes, it is a good thing to read the manual, even if you do think you know everything So, I get a red card for stupidity.
If I had read page 21 of the pdf Manual I would have found that as well as the numerical coordinates, I also have to insert either E or W of the Longtitude position from Greenwich and the N/S for the Lattitude position.
When one does that the destination is shown immediately.

As for reading manuals, I think we are all guilty of this if you tell the truth, to be honest I can understand why suppliers don't bother printing decent manuals for a lot of devices these days - they simply don't get read - Mike
Gee-Pee, looks like those co-ordinates will stick you in "Cherry Lodge Golf Club" just to the E of "Biggin Hill", or close anyway, I cant use the full Co-Ordinates

Sorry about that. I think you may be a little off-route - but if you come nearer to a famous London landmark,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The most usefull thing I have found is when you use google maps it gives the coordinates in LAT/LNG, which with minor tweeking to put into the format the 970-t wants, can take you most places that look interesting but you dont know the address or postcode .
Google gives position id deg:min:sec.ss
970-T wants deg:min.mmm
so you have to convert the seconds and decimal fraction seconds into minutes and decimal fraction minues..
And this does work fine, accept you have to be near a known road

My Google gives position in Deg: Min: Secs & hundreths of secs which means that all you need do is drop the numbers after the last decimal point (the hundreths of secs) & yes, you have to be within 25km of a road but it is important to give the N, S, E, W as well when entering the coordinates into the VM _________________ Gee-Pee

Sorry didn’t read your co-ordinates properly I only read “0° 07’ 30,07” didn’t see the “W”, so I went East of the meridian. So using good old Google your in a car park off the “Godstone Road” by “Manor Park” Not my bit of the world, is it famous? The park not the car park.

A clue, The coordinates are in D.M.S format, the Google map you link has been entered using the same values as above but it wants D.D format - using the wrong cordinate system this way can put you a good few miles off target.
Westminster Bridge, I think I will just leave it to the 970t, it seems to know where it’s going. Nice to see there are so many standards we can pick from
