Two questions:
1. Will this menu work on the ONEV3? It looks like there are functions there that I've heard of but didn't know were available on the V3
2. Using the menu in the first post in this thread, I find that most of the Manage POI functions call up a subset of the full set of POI categories. I can't find a way to get to the full set. So, for example, if I wanted to edit a POI in the Pharmacy category, I can't because it doesn't appear in the list when I select Manage POIs | Edit POI.

The menu will work on the the One Third Edition, the only menu comands that won't really do anything are those relating to Bluetooth (as the hardware is missing) and the mp3 player which is device dependent.
The unit will only display the nearest 20 (ish) POI file locations that are nearest to your position, if you want to find other locations try the Browse Map / Cursor button, then select POI and your category, this will force the device to list the nearest POI files to the on screen position of the cursor. - Mike |

Well, for some reason, wherever you happen to be, Manage POIs shows a limited set of Categories (it only shows the categories for which there is an ov2 file in the USA_and_Canada folder). Nonetheless, I was able to get to that POI using your method, and when I tried to edit it I got an error message that said "Selected item is not a map-provider POI."
However, I was able to go through the Correct POI routine, which I assume will send that correction to TomTom and may eventually change the spelling. The item in question was a pharmacy, and instead of CVS Pharmacy, it was listed as Cbs Pharmacy, so if you do a search for CVS Pharmacies, it doesn't show up.

Inbuilt POI files can only be altered using the MapShare correction function, any custom POI's can be altered on the fly IF you are running the custom menu, but these Custom POI files will only be updated on your device, MapShare corrections are shared accross the community via TomTom Home etc - Mike |

Makes sense. Thanks.

By coincidence I've just done an answer for basically the same question HERE. Might help make sense of TT's confusing two methods of editing POIs. |

Thanks Andy. After playing with it some, your explanation makes sense. It would have been nice if they had thought of slightly different names for the two types of POIs just to make the difference easier to understand.
The "Map Corrections" locations lets you send a correction to TomTom. Any idea how long TomTom takes to turn that correction into a change to the map?

Is there a tt one v3 or is the term being used for the 3rd edition. If there is a v3 with a removable card does anyone know if it's still available, or is v2 still avaiable. I'm thinking about replacing my iPAQ for a one Europe but I want to still use an SD card and, having read some of the posts, the 3rd edition seems to be a step backwards.
Thanks for any advice _________________ TT Go Essential |

V3 and 3rd edition are the same thing. No SD card in that model. Sorry, I don't know about availability of the V2, either in the US or Europe.

NO! NOT SO!!!!!
I've got this all written down somewhere, but it goes something like this:
The original "One" was v1
The "New Edition" (now also referred to by TomTom themselves as the "2nd Edition") had different variants (with or without internal memory AS WELL as an SD card slot). I think they were v2 and v3
The ONE XL was v4 and possibly v5
and the "3rd Edition" (no SD card slot) is v5 or v6.
Hopepfully, someone else will sort out any mis-rememberings...
But this is why you will KEEP seeing us ask people if they really mean a "3rd Edition" when they say "v3".
So if you want a machine with an SD card slot, you need a "New Edition" or an XL. |

The problem is that there are a lot of things with versions in this device. You are referring to App version. My app version is 7.162. Then there is the "GPS" version (mine is v1.21), which I think refers to the GPS hardware or software. But the unit itself is frequently referred to as 3rd edition *or* V3. Check through many of the posts in this thread for examples.

Just because there are a lot of references to V3 et al, doesn't mean they are all correct usage. _________________ Richard

Trust us...
We are NOT talking about software versions or GPS hardware. We are talking about how TomTom themselves refer to the devices privately (and how they are identified in Home.
The correct name for the latest model ONE is the "3rd Edition". It is categorically not a "v3" - that's just what people who don't know tend to call it. |
