I am afraid not, Only Maps, Cameras, Voices etc. bought for the XL work on the XL. The items downloaded are fixed to the device code so they only work on that device.
Exept your subscription to the PGPS Cameras. 1 subscription can download camera database to all satnavs in that household. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

I suspect you have had your map for a while so it may be worth checking with TomTom to see if it can be moved to your XL. It may be too old to work though and you will not get the latest functions.
I'm not sure if it's possible as the locking system is different now (used to be an activation code - now all done via Home). _________________ Gerry

I think you can only do that in the first 6 months Gerryc and you need to fax reciepts and device codes etc as i was thinking of upgrading to a x20 and it was looking like a lot of hasstle to transfer all my subscriptions. If this is not the case please let me know. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

if1977, it was a while ago that I did the move from Nav5 to XL. I understood you could only change devices in this way after 6 months and it was just the device codes you needed. I believe faxing receipts etc are for the latest map guarantee.
In any case, it's worth contacting TomTom to have a go at getting it done - it may all have changed since I re-activated my map on the new device.
grayus, It may be better to buy the EU version anyway as it has more internal memory to hold the EU map. You would probably have to buy an SD card to hold bigger maps in future anyway which would counteract the price difference. _________________ Gerry

I think you are worrying unduly, and being given some duff advice.
You CAN use other maps on an XL. In fact, I'll stick my neck out and say I think ANY pre-v7 TeleAtlas map can be used on ANY machine (space limitations notwithstanding).
What you CAN'T do is move maps from one machine willy-nilly.
You will need to re-activate the map using www.ttcode.com to generate a new activation code from your machine's device code and the map's productcode, and TT will only let you do that once every six months unless you talk to them direct. |
