Whose fault is it that my Traffic warning on GO920T always says delay of only ONE minute? ITIS or TomTom? It seems my road is either clear, or subject to one minute delay. I can put up with 1 minute delay, providing it's only 1 minute, but I don't believe it's even possible to forecast a delay that small. _________________ Dennis

I believe that's a Tomtom bug -- it's been mentioned before.

I deliberately quoted Jonfo's post hoping he would give a reply, on the assumption that being a spokesperson for ITIS he'd give me at least a statement that they are not originating the 1 minute problem, then I'd really know I have to get onto TomTom. I'm brand new to Traffic, having previously sneered at it and tuned my vehicle tranny to Radio 5, so with a definitive answer from ITIS I'd happily take it up with TT. Unfortunately, your answer only leaves me able to say "I know a guy who reckons it's your fault" as opposed to "ITIS tell me they pump the correct delay time to you, what are you doing about getting it right?" Somebody else told me the GPRS delay time forecast is "correct" and that the GPRS info comes from ITIS, so it looks extremely likely that TT are the culprit. It would have been nice to hear that ITIS are quietly leaning on TT to get it sorted because they are getting flack for it. _________________ Dennis

I have a ViaMichelin X980T and TMC has worked great while driving all along the South coast from Portsmouth to Totnes in Devon - just one or two losses of signal.
However, driving north on the M3 from Wincehster to the M25 to either Heathrow or Gatwick I have had no reception at all - basically the reason I bought a SatNav with TMC doesn't work
Do you think the new WAVE 105 and London channels will improve reception in this area? _________________ ViaMichelin X-980T

Please forgive my crass comments - they were not intended as criticism of your kind concerns - I suppose I was hoping Jonfo would see them and bless us with info from the horses mouth, so to speak.
For information, I have three concerns with RDS-TMC ....
1. Signal. I've done a round trip today from Keynsham to Radstock, to Cheshunt and back home, something near 300 miles. The GO920T signal was on and off all day long (I'm not studying it closely and it's not in my usual eyeline - that's for one of the 720s - so I can't say how long on/off). During the journey, Radio 5 live didn't go on and off!! So their traffic service worked all the time. With no TMC signal at the time I planned the second leg of the trip, I didn't know about M3 closure until I'd done quite a few miles (didn't have Radio 5 on, expecting great things from TMC).
2. Accuracy of information. I can't judge how well iTIS perform yet. Today's run proved they did know about a problem on the M3.
3. Accuracy of presentation. For today's closure of the M3 at J5 towards London, 920T told me at about 9:45am of the problem, but identified it as ONE MINUTE delay. As soon as it came up on the 920, I turned on Radio 5, only to just catch the end of a traffic update and had to wait 30 minutes for the next one, to learn the M3 had been closed since 6am and unlikely to open until at least 11:30am. So I diverted, but quite late, adding 30 minutes to my journey time. (Better than going to M3 though, which didn't open until noon, by which time I was already on the northern stretch of the M25).

I have had a GO 710 for about 14 months now. Having at last got an antenna that works at the end of last year, I was looking forward to receiving reliable traffic information. (My receiver works very well - I have routed it out through the door seal and tied it to the roof rail. Rarely without a green circle!!!) (Get a bit of a leak though, when it rains ....!)
Traffic information from ITiS is very poor though. I rarely get an accurate message. Any number of messages telling me about 1 minute delays (yes, I know there is a software fault on delay time) but where there is no problem at all and yet any number of occasions where there have been notable delays that get no mention at all. For example, for 6 weeks before Christmas, the A450 between its junctions with the A449 and the A442 was closed for major works. This is a busy route. Not one mention by ITiS for the whole period.
Currently there are road works on the A449 at Hoo Farm, just south of Kidderminster. Temporary traffic lights causing lengthy delays (up to 15 minutes at peak times each day in both directions. They were there all last week too. Has there been any mention on the traffic information? Has there [BLEEP] !
This last weekend, the main route into Upton-upon-Severn (B4211) was closed due to flooding for 2 days. Again, not a whisper from ITiS.
And, so far as I can see, there is no way for a public spirited person to report incidents to ITiS for them to include.

I think it should be developed to use the GPRS service so that every user's speed is fed back to their mainframe (on capable Sat Navs).
If the average speed of a certain number of cars on a section of road is below a defined average then a report is automatically sent out through the TMC.
