I seem to remember from my law studies that it relates to the law of contract. For a contract to be binding there has to be three things in place:
- Offer
- Acceptance
- Consideration
However, a common misconception is that it is the shop making the "offer" to sell and the customer "accepting" that offer. In fact, it is the other way round. The customer "offers" to buy and the shop decides whether or not to "accept". I think this is the real reason why shops do not have to honor advertised prices. |

Good guess Was many years ago but now on the other side (Head Office).

Just found this forum and this thread so i thought i would tell you that
I got a tomtom 720 from PC world [29-12-07] using the advice on HUKD, at Chesterfield for £145 saving £73.88 on the price online
of £218.88
No hassle just reserved day before and they only wanted to see the argos e-mail no web checks or anything even though i had them with me.
I was prepared to go to local argos x2 and a comet branch to get a deal but PC world was first on my list as they price match +10%
Great bargain |
