I have just done a restore on my 520 and now it just freezes on the startup screen. I don't get a red cross on the screen just the wallpaper startup screen. I have tried holding the reset in several times for 30 seconds + without sucess. |

To give us some idea of what is happening, why was it necessary for you to do a restore?
How did you do the Restore? Home or Explorer.
Have you got an SD Card in the Slot? If so, try it with the Card out. _________________ Richard

I restored it using Home 2 and have tried removing the memory card but still can't get past the wallpaper startup screen. |

What was the problem that required you to do a Restore?
Do you have a Software Update in the HOME Download Folder?
Have a look at This Post. It sounds like you have corrupt data somewhere.
It is something that we always stress here - do a Full Backup using Windows Explorer. At least you have control over what is Saved.
Do one now even if the Device is not working, to make sure that ALL the data is secure. _________________ Richard

Have got it to show up on my pc by pressing the reset button then putting it in the cradle to switch on. Have done a restore but still won't get past the wallpaper screen. |

OK.
If you do a 30 second Reset with the Device switched on, does it re-boot, or do you have to switch it on again? _________________ Richard

If so, have you got the Software in the program sub-folder of the HOME Download Folder.
By default it is C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\TomTom HOME\Downloads\program
You should have a Folder in there with the name TomTomApplicationfor.... or similar.
If you have, you need to follow the directions in This Post. Ignore the first bit about how to connect your Device to PC and do it the way you did above.
You will need to delete the Files, Not the Folders with Explorer, and then re-install the software with HOME using Add Maps, voices, etc. Then Items on my computer.
Remember to use Safely Remove Hardware before unplugging the USB Connector. _________________ Richard

Have finally brought it back to life by deleting everything in the Tomtom's memory and then doing a restore. Strangely just doing a restore without clearing the Tomtom's memory didn't work for some reason. A clean restore did the trick. Thanks for everyones help. |
