Does TomTom work on all mobile phones running Windows Mobile 6.0?
I'm thinking of getting an HTC S730 you see. http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=157428

The XDA Orbit is not Windows Mobile standard, it's Windows Mobile Pro i.e. for PDA's
I'm asking about Windows Mobile Standard, i.e. for Smartphones. |

My better half has a windows smart phone, a HP one, nice little bit of kit, We put tomtom moble 5 on hers, I think the maps are slightly dated but for what she uses it, it is fine. I think there is a way to upgrade the mapping but for us it isn't worth the price. Saying that we could have done with it this week, as my new xda Stellar arrived as a replacement for my faulty xda trion on Friday and I haven't had chance to sort the tomtom port over out yet. _________________ o2 XDA Stellar

Well TomTom 6 works on my smartphone.. kind of!
Everything works ok from the keypad, the number shortcuts even work just the same, except for the fact that UP & DOWN don't work, instead they turn the volume up and down! , if it wasn't for that it would work perfectly.
Thankfully I can use FakeCursor to simulate a touch screen, it's not ideal but as I'm only using occasionally away from the car it's sufficient.
Though it's a mystery why TomTom didn't make a smartphone version as they did with version 5. The code between Smartphone and PocketPC has got to be 99.9% the same! |
