That has to be the easiest thing ever.
Went to "Use latest map guarantee" and it said there is one available, 900mb os Western Europe selected install and literally 10 mins later it is all installed. No need to do anything other than watch it happen.
I have a 20mb line which helped with the download but it was very very straightforward.
Hope everyone else has as much luck as my install !!

The size is supposed to be 1743.2 MB so 900MB sounds to small.
I had some luck too. Got a response from TomTom saying that they will put the map on my TT account if I send in a copy of my invoice. Hope that works. |

Anybody else with todays 909Mb download of 7.10 tested their voice recognition yet??
Would also be interested if someone has compared known recent road changes against each of these maps ie to see that these actually are updated newer maps as the sub 1Gb size is alittle worrying |

Not good, after downloading it failed with internal server error.
At least TomTom are consistent, yet another update that hasn't been tested. |

TomTom Home told me the 720 download was 931MB big and yes, it has just installed fine.
I will be pretty upset though if the v710 1GB map has lost a load of detail compared to the v705 1.7GB map - Especially as I upgraded to a GO720 from a GO710 with the higher detail W&C Europe maps albeit only v675... |

I was just about to warn people not to download this update, something is seriously wrong, I've compared the files from this update with those on my 720 and they are a LOT smaller.
My update failed and I managed to access the files in the Home download directory and these are 909Mb (Expanded) compared with 1.59Gb on my 720 |

The maps available in Home online shows a v710 1.7GB WE map to purchase and the v710 1GB version of the WE Maps from the latest map guarantee... Therefore, on the basis that the 720 came with a 1.7GB map v705, we are being totally short changed by only getting a slimmed down version as an update...
You can also buy the W&C Europe map now for the 720 - also 1.7GB large...

Im being offered a 1.7Gb map update via "Update your go" - have downloaded it twice and its said "internal server error" twice just as it got to 100% downloaded. Now trying again after deleting the contents of the Documents\TomTom\Home\Downloads folder. |

If you look back through all the posts about this in several threads, there are several quoted messages from TomTom saying:
WE WILL GIVE A NEW v710 MAP TO ALL x20 OWNERS WHEN IT IS READY. YOU WILL NOT NEED TO BE WITHIN THE 30 DAY PERIOD.
Sorry for shouting, but it's been said so many times.
(P.S. And this will NOT be the same v710 map as the one that is already available to buy). |
i know that ....i was just commenting on what was being said when i tried to use teh map guarantee button _________________ TomTom 5001 |

After reading the above, I'm just wondering, should I bother updateing to this "New" 900ish meg v710 map on my 720T, or keep with my gig and a half v705 map?. _________________ Plank.

If the download size is only 900MB or so then I would ignore it and retain what you already have.
On Monday I was offered a FREE update from V705 to V710 of Map of Western Europe the file size was 1743.2MB. I downloaded and installed it on Tuesday without any Problems. _________________ Graham.

Success (4th attempt).
From originally shipped
ID=Western_Europe.pna
716922608
705
build=1480
1.58Gb
now got
ID=Western_Europe_1GB.pna
440040529
710
build=1561
951Mb
At least I got this "latest" even if it is smaller than original. |
