Yes I have - I haven't noticed anything different either good or bad.

Yes I connected the C550 to the GTM21 and updated to V4.60 GTM firmware.
This act of bravery took place in a North Manchester retail park car park.

I nearly had to lie down with shock as straight away I had traffic messages streaming in from far and wide. I then had to contend with the shock of having TMC working all the way home (never before) to 3 miles north of M62 Junc 21.

Has the power of Winter Hill been given a further bost or have are other aliens been at work in north Manchester.

Later in the week I have a over night drive to Dover and then 4 days in Belgium and northern France.

I will post again after the Euro jaunt

It must be the aliens.

I live in Kent and haven't noticed any difference.

If i remember, when using the updater, wasn't this update for Canada?
I downloaded it anyway just to be up to date.

It shouldn't have altered the sensitivity of the unit - otherwise it would have been mentioned in the release notes (probably). Weather conditions are probably part of the explaination here. You may have found that you were getting reception from Galaxy FM in Manchester - at least for part of your journey.

Well I am confused now
Confused Confused Confused

There are aliens at work in Yorkshire today I went on a short trip from East of Rochdale via the A58 to south of Halifax.
I have never seen so much traffic on my C550 the UK was lit up like a Christmas tree.

Surely our TMC problems have not ended have they Question Question Question

I am of to Dover then France and Belgium tomorrow night will the aliens be with me.

I went for the upgrade (GTM-21).

My gut feeling is that the only journey I've done since, the reception wasn't quite as good (from glancing at the LED on the power plug). That could have been atmospheric or signal related, though.

What's the scoop on the subcription settings, do people just leave that alone and on auto?

Is it recommended to do the clear thing, and rescan?

The life-time subscription will be automatically set when you first receive a valid TMC message. Leave the settings alone is the best idea.

Have a look through this forum and the TMC forum for problems / solutions for 'iffy' TMC reception. The internal aerials are usually not good enough to cope with the lower power used here in the UK unless close to the transmitter.

It seems to work OK if I leave it alone - but even when it's got valid TMC messages, it never seems to show anything in the subcriptions - other than a reference to a French trial subscription, and the same for a US one.

TBH I have done for a while, when I first got it, I probably played around a little and then set it to auto - but that was really because I wasn't getting any reception locally, and only ever seem to do, when I've ventured out on the motorway.

Well I have read a fair amount about people modifying the aerial leads, and hacking into their car stereo's aerial connection with y leads.

As it's still new and under warranty, and far from immune to going wrong, I think I'll leave it as is, for the moment.

Thanks for the info.

I updated all my software to that shown. All seems to be working OK but I haven't noticed any improvements.

Menu (Spanner) / Settings / About any help?

Although, I think with the 6x0, Garmin dropped the GTM version number, so you may get everything but the GTM version.

Do as swing says but you only see the GTM version if the receiver is connected. I found this out my self accidentally the other day. If receiver not connected you only get the other software versions.
