Hello,
I get the newsletter that goes on about international database updates along with all sorts of GPS news, but the only thing I actually care about (the updates of the UK cams) aren't listed on the newsletter.
Can anyone tell me why this fundimental element isn't included? (and how I can in the future be informed about the updates)
Cheers |

If you go to this thread and click the "Watch this topic for replies" link at the bottom of the page, you'll get a message each time the thread is updated, i.e. there is a new release. _________________ Jock

I think you'll find that the international database updates include the UK cameras. _________________ Anita

one definition of 'international' is: "concerning or belonging to all or at least two or more nations"
our database covers many countries so we call it an international speed camera database as opposed to listing every single country that has a database...

If I travel internationally does that exclude UK? Nope. Sorry you found this confusing but rest assured that the use of the term 'International' refers to our entire database and all the countries and territories it covers. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hey, well how about you call it that on this website as well...
"Click here for the PocketGPSWorld.com Speed Camera Database"
then you click that and get
"PocketGPSWorld.com Speed Camera Database Version 5.115 27 Nov 07"
So in fact, you don't call it the international speed camera database anywhere on this website. A bit of continuity wouldn't go a miss.
Thanks |

That's because it doesn't necessarily take you to an international download. You could just download the UK cameras.
BUT WE DIGRESS...
Without getting into a fight over semantics, why don't we try to work out why you're not getting emails when the Announcement topic gets updated? That will solve all your problems, won't it. |

Unless the website team have any better ideas, the first thing to try I guess is the old IT favourite "turn-it-off-and-on-again".
Go to that topic http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=39307, Scroll to the bottom of the first page. On the left, it should say "stop watching this topic". Click on it and the page should change to a message saying "you are no longer watching this topic".
Click the "return to the topic" box, and do it all over again, clicking on "watch this topic for replies".
It should now bring up a new window saying you are watching it.
Now, goto the "Profile" button at the top of any forum page, and check your email address is right.
I'm sure you've already done all this in the past, but if you double-check, at least we know where we stand.
Only trouble of course.... As MaFt has only updated that topic today, unless he can do something clever, you won't know if it has worked for another two weeks or so! |

thanks | After you realised that there was a new version available? There hasn't been a new post since yesterday! _________________ Jock

I assumed there had been after reading the post above:

| Ah yes! MaFt has indeed updated yesterday's post (as opposed to making a new post), but I suspect that may not trigger a new message. I'm not subscribed to the thread, so I'm not sure. Can anyone else advise? _________________ Jock
