Dear Mr,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
To download and install your Map that you have purchased, please click on the link below:-
http://www.tomtom.com/5169
You will need to check that you have sufficient space on the Hard Drive or SD card of your TomTom to install the Map. To find out how much space is required, please click on the following link:-
http://www.tomtom.com/6583
If you do not have sufficient space to install your Map onto your TomTom, you will need to obtain a blank SD card with a minimum read speed of 10mb/s or higher.
With Best Regards
The TomTom Customer Support Team
Note "your Map that you have purchased" which I haven't (purchased). Anyway I went to the link and nearly tore my hair out because it tells you how to get maps that you have purchased. To see where it took me, I connected GO720 #7, fired it up and up comes TT Home. Before proceeding to see whatever their instructions do for me, I did my usual thing of click on Update my GO and Lo and Behold, an extra map was there for the having (I have three previous maps like several others of us, from previous, now defunct GOs). I did NOT click on Latest map Guarantee, merely because I usually do the Update click first, then the Latest Map second. So I selected it and said "Do it" so it said delete something, so I deleted the existing map (it deleted both WE and Canary Islands) and started to download. Started with "Estimated remaining time .... climbed to 46 minutes, then started downloading and I got a bit of green stick, whereupon the estimated time dropped to 25 minutes, but then climbed again to 45 mins, more green stick, down to 26 mins, more green stick and so on and so forth. I have "Up to 8Mb broadband" and currently after 21 minutes, its showing almost a half of the green stick and revolving around 27 mins remaining. And for all you people who love and care about me - yes, I've gotta backup (10:15 this morning).
Like the termination man, I'll be back when it's all over and let you know how it went. Before doing so, I'll also connect GO720 #6 to see what happens to that!! _________________ Dennis

DennisN, Good luck!
I have had a succession of replies from the same man at TomTom (John G.) and had that exact message - but got the dreaded "Internal Server Error" after download and when the map tried to install.
Further emailing eventually got me a download with a valid activation file, and it worked!!
Stick with it if this one fails, you'll get there eventually!

It's been running 55 mins now and I've got three quarters of a green stick, with estimated remaining time wobbling between 17 and 25 mins. Why is this download so ** slow? The 675 W&CE map was similar size and downloaded and installed in far less time. Maybe it's the new improved helpful popular Home v2.1.2.121?
Don't you just HATE it when people say "I did that and it went ** over ** for me"? It's gonna work FIRST TIME for me. _________________ Dennis

Not looking good!! Been at the download nearly 2 hours now and reached 3/4 of green stick with estimated remaining now climbing over 40 minutes and not really any green stick movement evident. _________________ Dennis
No problems here. When i downloaded the WE(1785mb) 3 weeks ago.
It took about 40minutes.
Litle info:the Canary Islands are now part of the WE map.(no more as a standalone map)
I was getting the dreaded "internal server error" after tomtom finally made the v7.10 available to me. After 4 tries I added to my "answered" support email, and got the following response:
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
If, for any reason, you are not able to (re)install a software update or any of your purchased PLUS services, please follow the steps below:
1. If your TomTom unit is connected to your PC, exit from TomTom HOME and disconnect the unit
2. Go to ‘My Documents’ and then browse to ‘TomTom\HOME\Downloads’
3. Delete the contents of the ‘Downloads’ folder (not the folder itself)
4. Connect your TomTom unit and, in TomTom HOME, check for updates again
5. The software will download all available services, including software update if necessary, and you will be able to install them to your TomTom unit.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
I've just done this, and now have successfully downloaded and installed the latest map! Being a supicious b****r I checked the map activation file in downloads, and sure enough, instead of the previous 0 bytes it was 227 bytes.
Anyway, keep knocking on lads, you can wear them down eventually!

After 130 minutes, the green stick seems to be moving at a reduced rate of about 1/16th of an inch in 10 minutes. It still has about 2 3/4 inches to go and the estimate is increasing inexorably, now over 48 minutes. This is not looking encouraging. I can already easily imagine hating kobudera - another four downloads like this is not an inviting prospect. _________________ Dennis

I've had enough of this - it's bad enough having a traffic warden gloating, but three hours and still only 7 1/4 inches of green stick with estimate now up to an hour is making me, well, not angry, just disappointed!! Aborted the b*** thing and I'll start it off again at midnight. 'Course I now have no maps.
Oh for the days when I had a GO300!! _________________ Dennis

I had one of my five downloads go like that, I assumed it was because of their server being busy or similar.
If your next download fails with "internal server error" just email them again and tell them - then good ol' John G will remember to add an activation code for you next time!
