|
|
Currently have Tom Tom 300.Have just bought an additionalTom Tom 720 for family.
Are there any precautions needed BEFORE connecting TT720 to PC/HOME..i.e. Will any existing TT300 backup data be overwritten when I back up the 720?
And..
I wish to use the PGPSW Camera database on the 720.Will I need to delete any existing tom tom POI data BEFORE downloading from PGPSW.
Thanks in advance for any help offered. |

Welcome to the forum, I would start by having a read through some of the FAQ's which can be found Here specifically look at the way to back up the device using Windows Explorer (it is more reliable), also removal of the TomTom speed camera database is also listed. You don't have to take them off, but doing so will avoid the double warnings you might get if left on the device.
For connection to Home you will need to use a second e-mail address to register your new device, this is part of the "security" system - Mike |

You fire up the relevant page.
Highlight the url address at the top - http:// etc and copy it to the clipboard using Ctl C.
Type your reply saying (the green stuff)...
You have to click [ url= (without spaces) then Ctrl V to paste your url address, then type ] to end it, then (I usually add [ b ] (no spaces) type HERE then [/ b ] (no spaces then [ /url ] (no spaces) to go to somewhere.
If you get it right, when you click on Preview, you'll see ...
"You have to click HERE to go to somewhere.
Here's a complete example, BUT using () brackets where you should use []
(Blue are the special bits to insert)
You have to click (url=http://www.pgpsw.com/blah)(b) HERE (/b)(/url)to go to somewhere.
Mike (or somebody else) taught me how to do this by sending it in an email - doing it in a reply is horrendously difficult because you can't do the square bracket things properly as that would make them do the funny stuff, not show it!
If this is complicated, I'll email the same as Mike did for me. _________________ Dennis

Looks like you got it - the e-mail I sent Dennis was for posting pictures not links IIRC and resulted in some teeth being snarled - Mike |

Well done tanda. You could be right Mike. Anyway, I didn't know how to do anything until you and the others all helped me out. And I dropped the teeth after somebody complained to me in a PM.

Well, for your information, I knew how to do this before I explained it. Maybe tanda is the only one amongst us who's not a Smartypants Southerner. _________________ Dennis

One last question, sorry to hi-jack chrispartrick's question,
How do you make the "HERE" a difrferent colour. I tried it again in another question, wrote the answer in black, changed it to red, wrote it, (red ((/) etc came up, but it came out black still. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

I've saved it all in a text file (because it's quick to open) and just highlight from after url= to first closed bracket and paste the URL into it each time I want to post a link. Again, square brackets where I've put round ones.
(url= URL HERE )(color=red)HERE(/color)(/url) _________________ Anita

Don't understand...
In your tryout above it DID come out red, that is the standard colour for links without you having to do anything clever. |

Thanks for the help, Andy, the HERE above, has been black all evening, at least on my PC, just been back to the page and it is showing red, so it looks like it was my PC not showing the colour initially for some reason. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

I find the easy way is to select the link text so it is all highlighted then use the "Font Colour" box above to change it to red:
(url=http://www.wordwiseweb.com/2004/buntin/arrows/image/thank_you_(arrow).jpg)(b) (color=red)HERE(/color)(/b)(/url)
Note the ( and ) should be altered to [ and ] for the forum code to pick up what you are intending to do - Mike |

Mike, as Andy said above, the link text HERE comes out red by default, no need to insert the colour change. I insert the bold code, partly because the default is also a smaller size text and bold makes it easier to see. _________________ Dennis
